I skated a bit when I was little but never got to really play ice hockey with both my parents working during the week. The closest rink was at the least a half hour drive. I played some roller hockey for awhile, then finally my senior year of high school I put some money aside and bought all the equipment. I started in men's leagues and I've been at it for 3 years, I'm by no means a great player but I've been playing in A and B divisions...I've played against the Ferraro Brothers, Boris Yashin and the other brother that didnt make it to the NHL...and soon I'll probably see Beniot Hogue if I'm home when my men's league team plays his team.

I'm 32 and want to start playing....Am I crazy? I wanted to play hockey since high school, but could not afford to join the team. I can skate well, but I have never played hockey on a team.

Besides getting some used equipmenet, how do I start?

19 years old, I just started skating about 3 months ago, been going to shinny with friends about twice a week since, next year I'll be joining a rec league for the first time. Skating came really easy to me for some reason and I've picked up pretty quickly. Still having a lot of difficulty translating my wrist shot (which was actually my strongest asset) from street hockey to ice, which is a lot more different than I would have guessed.

hockey

Well I was unable to learn to play hockey until I was in my twenties. I grew up in South Florida. I am 41. During the times I was a kid I would go to the rink with my best friend and her Mom . They were both figure skaters. That is how I learned to skate. But I had always liked hockey as it was something Me and my Grandpa would share. When I was at the rink ( it was the only one where I lived at the time) I saw some guys in hockey gear and asked a rink employee if I could play. He said you are a girl. You can't play hockey. I was very mad. But as a kid what could I say to an adult at the time . Slowly down here We got more rinks and hockey opened up. The minute they started to let women compete down here . I signed up for learn to play lessons and have never looked back. I only wish I was able to start this as a kid. It would have been such a blast .

27. I took about a year and a half off when I moved to Phoenix, but I've been playing regularly for just over a year now.

I started at 44, My son skated for a year and a half before he started playing hockey at age 7.
7 years old around here is an old man starting to play. But there is no rule when to start your kids.
