Per Zipay, the Rangers aren't done on the trade front

Don't know if anyone else caught this in Zipay's post today:

Quote:
Looking at the schedule---and from what I'm hearing, the Rangers aren't done on the trade front---I'll hazard a guess and predict 17 or 18 wins and probably fifth or sixth place in the East. They will need far more timely scoring to secure home-ice advantage. And don't dismiss the possibility of injury: the Rangers have been extremely fortunate so far.

Let the speculation begin...

I sense more third liner, and some more 8-9 defenseman.

Woohoo

Hemsky for Voros

I am actually scared of what they plan on doing at the trade deadline.

The sad part is, even if we start tanking (which we may if we continue to play the way we're playing game in and game out) I believe that we'll be buyers at the deadline.

Every year I don't think Sather could be any stupider, and every time he proves me wrong.

If a first or second round pick is traded for a rental, I'm going to lose it.

Just don't salvage the future for a 1-year run.

Exactly. Unless everything goes right this season I dont see a serious possibility of a cup this year. If Sather is looking to make this team better for the long run through trades at the deadline I would be okay with it, however the 1st and 2nd rounders in the nest couple drafts should be off limits.

I'm scared of what they might NOT do... insofar as Dawes, Prucha, Kalinin, Gomez/Drury, Sjostrom and Voros go.

I would love to get Kovalchuk but I don't think even he can get the Rangers to the finals...

Sather should just sell... won't happen though

Dawes and Prucha are smaller players so I think they are out. Would love Kalinin out but I just don't know...Voros maybe but I think they like his size ..........the others are not going anywhere............Sjostrom kills Penalties and Drury and Gomez are the team.....just accept that

If I were Sather I would be shopping the following players:

Redden(#1 priority to get rid of)
Prucha
Dawes
Kalinin
Voros

I'm getting the feeling that Dawes isn't going to finish this season as a Ranger.

What do you expect to get with this?

Another Backman esque player is all you could hope for and we need more than that.

Maybe Slats can dump Kalinin for a guy like Mara like he did with Ward. That would be sickkkkkkkkkkk.

Realistically, our roster that should be intact after the trade deadline:

Forwards: Gomez, Drury, Zherdev, Naslund, Dubinsky, Callahan, Korpikoski, Sjostrom, Betts, Orr for 10/13.

Defense: Redden, Rozsival, Staal, Mara, Girardi, Reitz for 6/7.

We've got some room to play. The best thing to do is get rid of those unnecessary parts for picks to restock once we lose some for our other trades.

Not so realistically, everyone's up for grabs! yay!

The problem is that we have nothing to sell. No one's going to take on Redden or Gomez's contract. Drury has a NMC. Prucha can't even crack the lineup consistently. Callahan and Dawes are fringe 2nd liners who won't fetch much.

Rozsival may have some value but outside him, we have nothing that can fetch us anything substantial. All of the others that can fetch a decent return are players we should be building around for the future - Staal, Zherdev, and Lundqvist. Dubinsky is one that could go either way. If for the right return, I could see him being traded.

All Sather can do is swap 3rd/4th liners and 6-7th d-men. We saw it last year with Sjostrom and we saw it just a few days ago with Reitz.

I dont mean together, I mean he should be actively shopping them. Lots of teams will be looking for some cheap help in those areas.

I'd like to see Slats try to talk his friend Burke and get us Antropov or Kubina if he can work a cap miracle. I know Antropov has like 1 goal in like 14 games but I think he could succeed here. He's also in the last year of his contract. He can score and has the size we need.

I'm definitly intrested to see what is anything Sather can pull off in the days leading up to the deadine. The only thing is,like many have said already, who on this roster is going to get anything substatial that isnt named Staal,Lundqvist, or Zherdev? Unless there is something/someone i'm missing

Oh boy. I can hardly wait and see what marginal NHLer Sather brings in at the expense of a draft pick.
