Seriously, Gainey never ever panic. He never makes blockbuster moves at the deadline, doesn't negotiate contract extensions with pending UFA players during the season.

He only gets busy during the off-season.

I don't expect anything from Bob at this point other than a "Todd Simpson" type of deal.
Not really, desperation covers him, he can act now and if it doesn't turn out right, he has excuses, he must move.. Best of both world..

He will call up a player or two from Hamilton and that's about it

Nothing. And I'm actually not going to criticize him for it. We're not 1 or 2 players away from something big. No need to empty the prospect pool right now, at least not for the valuable prospects that we have. Gainey needed to do something before. Now, it's not the time. We have neither what's needed to please another GM, or we shouldn't be interesting in getting rid of what could be a big part of our future.

I'd think long and hard about selling at the deadline.

I agree to an extent but I don't mean sell the farm. I'd sell off an asset or two the assets that Gainey thinks exendable. I hope he explores that possiblity anyhow, if not some of our guys will be walking for no return.

For now I think Gainey makes a few call-ups from Hamilton to replace Lats and Lang, maybe make a move or two closer to the trade deadline. As long as Price stays healthy the team should at least make the play-offs. By then the team may be relatively healthy with the exception of Lang. In the play-offs anything can happen, though I don't expect a Cup this year.

I expect Kovalev to be traded by the deadline. He and Carbo cant stand each other and you know one of them will never get canned as long as Gainey is the GM.

We should consider tanking so we can finally get that superstar that we have been waiting for 15 years.

Weight would be alright as a rental. Nail a weight and a Schneider at the deadline and roll em?

I was just giving examples of type of players. McDonald is coming back soon I believe though. Won a Cup, great offensive player.

How expensive would weight and schneider be? Even if not trading it would be nice to see BG drive up the price for the desperate.

True. Lang had size which will be missed and he was a right-handed shot. Not a lot of guys like that available though. We will see.

Don't put your hopes up,Gainey won't do much and would never get rid of all our 3rd line players that we have

I don't see how people can expect Gainey to make major trades during the middle of the season when nobody is trading at this point. The cap means that there will be little trade movement before the deadline.

Call up Chipchura and Stewart.
See how the team responds for 3-4 games.
Re-evaluate the teams needs.
