Thank you Robert Lang (the Robert Lang tribute thread)

Looking at the way Langer smiled and was so positive, I just have to get myself a Lang jersey.

Pointless thread I know, sigh.

Pending how trades/UFA's pan out in the next 6 months or so, perhaps he might be back? We shall have to wait and see but I wouldn't mind signing him for another year if no other option is available.

Before then though, hopefully he is able to have as quick and full a recovery as is possible and then he can start thinking about his career again.

Thanks for what you gave us this year Robert, hopefully we find a way to get your name on the cup this year

it's a bit dramatic but I don't mind the general feeling of his departure being like that of a martyr

I really felt he was the best role model on the team for the Kostitsyn's....

Career Over?

There is a very sad but real possibility that his career is over.

He's 38 years old making 4+ million a year.

Assuming, and it is a big assumption that he recovers in 6 months (injuries like this take over a year), do you think a GM will sign a 39 year player coming off a MAJOR injury for anywhere CLOSE to $4 million a year.

Even if he goes down to lets say $2 million, there is a lot of doubt that he could keep up, he wasn't fastest guy to begin with.

I hope he gets a chance leave the game on his terms, but in all honesty, I don't think it should be in a Habs uniform.

God bless ya Langer, I truly wish you the best.

Well, if we somehow win the Cup, his name would still be on it, at least.

And strangely I believe that if Gainey is screwed once again at the UFA period, what other choice will he have? I just believe that there's a strong possibility to see Lang back with the Habs next year. For 2 millions? Gainey will do it. It's not like we have tons of options, like the center position depth in Hamilton is that deep, and it's not like the UFA's rushes to sign here....

I'd take Lang again next year for $2m. Everybody thought this year he'd be some 10 goal/30 point player, and we were still sorta satisfied to pick him up, but then he turned into a 30 goal/65 point player. Next year he'll probably be closer to the expectations that we had for him when he first arrived here
