Vishnovsky vs. Kaberle?

(Tomas)

Similar players, both very good offensively and defensively.

Kaberle at 4.25 for 2 more years
Vishnovsky at 5.6 for 5 more years

Who is better?

Also how the hell do I make this into a poll?

Who's Vishnovsky? Is that some kind of combination of Lubomir Visnovsky and Vitaly Vishnevski? If so, I would take him, because then you get two defensemen for the price of one.

I love it how even many Oilers fans can't spell Visnovsky.

Also if you want a poll, try the poll sub forum.

I've seen his name spelt either way. Is it Visnovsky?

I used to live in Ontario, so I watched my fair share of the leafs and Kaberle.

They both play a similar style, but Lubo's hockey sense is a little better. He always know where they play is developing, and as a result is ahead of it for the most part. His blocked shots total is an indicator of this. He's also got a better outlet pass, but takes a few more chances on offense (i.e. pinching). Having said that, I'd say Visnovsky is the better defenseman.

I have seen Staal spelled Stall probably more than I have seen it spelled Staal doesn't mean you can spell it either way, one is wrong and one is correct.

Yup it's Visnovsky. If you want his totally original spelling it's Ľubomír Višňovský.

Well, Kaberle has by far better career numbers..

I also have this feeling Visnovsky always has to be paired with a large, immobile defenseman or else the offense just rolls over him. Am I wrong?

Also, contracts. Visnovsky is paid $7 million ($5.6 mil cap hit) while Kaberle is paid $4.25 mil a year for the next 3 years...

While, I think Kaberle is the better player, I think it is alot closer than you make it out to be, just judging on stats (Because I don`t follow the leafs), their PPG`s are very close (0.59 for Kaberle, 0.56 for Visnovsky) and both have 67 points for career highs, while Kaberle is a bit bigger, Visnovsky makes up with it by being strong as an ox. Both make defensive mistakes, but can make up for them easily with his speed and has broken up at least 10, 2 on 1`s using his speed and not taking penaltys.

Yes, you are wrong about that particular point. Usually it's who ever that ISN'T paired with him gets rolled over. I don't really know how, maybe it's because of his sense and his speed, but no matter what, how big, how strong, he can take the puck away from you. It's pretty impressive. And if by career numbers you mean points they have been pretty equal the years Lubo has been in the league.

Yup. Visnovsky has been outstanding this season no matter who has played with. Souray looked so much better when he played with Visnovsky. He looks average without him although he is playing with Gilbert who sucks.

Grebeshkov's game has elevated a lot since being paired with Visnovksy as well although his defense partner at the start of the year was Gilbert who sucks.

Visnovsky's greatest strength is his ability to jump in and break up passes in the neutral zone. I have never seen an Oiler dman do it as much as he does. He is also a great puck mover.

Kaberle is the better PP quarterback from what I have seen, but I haven't watched him enough to pick up on the rest of his game.

Can all of you tell me how it is not even close? Visnovsky is better defensively than Kaberle, and they are even matched offensively, both are on pace for around the same amount of points.

hmm, Gilbert sucks? Thats news to me. I heard he broke Coffeys record last year for most points by a rookie defenceman in Oiler history and now he's on pace for a better season this year. I haven't seen Gilbert make many mistakes at all. He does not suck.
