Oh my god. So basically they didn't want Mike Brown so much that they traded him for a player who could have been had for free on waivers yesterday.

No secret I'm no fan of Mike Brown but is there really room on the roster for McIver? Don't we already have enough "tough physical guys" on the blueline? He's not an upgrade over Davison.

Best Canucks trade ever. Does McIver have to clear waivers to be sent down? I know he was waived yesterday, but I didn't hear a report of him being sent to the minors.

McIver is in the minors right now so I'd assume he'd be assigned to the moose.

Yep. McIver cleared waivers yesterday so he's going to the Moose.

And thus ends the reign of Mike Brown. All hail the great Nathan McIver.

ah.....fair enough.

Good deal!

As per orcatown:

McIver -> Manitoba
Rahimi -> Victoria
Jaffrey -> Canucks

A 4th line that can actually play: Jaffrey-Johnson-Hansen

Hordichuk draws in against teams like the Ducks....

FTW!

I wonder if Nycholat is coming off the IR? They would need a roster spot opened because they already had Brown, Raymond, and O'Brien in the press box. That would mean no Jaffray unfortunately.

Mike Brown was obviously a locker room cancer, and was singularly responsible for the losing streak.

Losing Pettinger for Brown looks pretty f'ing stupid at this point though.

That makes sense. We get a roster spot without having to waive anyone.

First a win, then we acquire McIver. Every thing is going our way now.

hmmmm....then I'd consider sending down Nycholat for "conditioning" (no need for waivers in that situation). Bring up Jaffrey in the meantime (unless doing that doesn't clear a roster spot).

Don't forget getting rid of Brown, the most important part of all.

Just had a look at the numbers, McIver has gotten into 18 games this season and while playing 10 minutes per night has only been on the ice for a single goal against. That's pretty impressive.

McIver's good enough to be a solid 9th defenseman on the Moose. Hopefully the Canucks won't get into a situation where they'll have to use him this season though.
