Free Agents in the offseason...

Mike Grier
PJ Axelsson
Stephane Yelle
Jere Lehtinen
Mikael Samuelsson
Todd Marchant
Sami Pahlsson
Michael Peca
Ian Laperriere

Any thoughts on what these class B free agents might fetch?

With the season he's having, Samuelsson could fetch a good $3-3.5M.

Lehtinen has missed 97 games in the last 4.5 seasons. I don't see anyone investing much stock in him, unless it's Dallas so he can have one last season as a Star.

Grier won't get much more than what he's making now, if he gets that.

If the Bruins win a Cup, I could see Axelsson retiring or going back to Europe. His days at this level are about over.

The rest don't really stick out to me that much. Pahlsson's a good defensive center but it's not like that's hard to come by these days. Laperriere is probably about done, as are Marchant and Yelle. Peca might have one season left in him.

I'd love to see Grier come back to San Jose, but he'll likely be a cap casualty in attempting to fit the Sharks RFA's under the cap. Good luck to whoever gets him, he's really a great guy as long as you're not looking for him to score goals.

Especially on empty nets.

I think Grier and Samuelsson could snag 3 mill.

Is it safe to assume that these players will receive sub-$1million contracts? I think Sami and Peca could do better than that

samuelsson will command the most as a result of his somewhat inflated detroit numbers. that's not knocking him, i think he's a very good player and liked him during his days w/the NYRaggies.

I think Axe goes to Sweden after this season. At least I hope so. I don't really want him on the team (in large part to him being mis-used), but I want to see him retire as a Bruin.
