Nothing like throwing the kid into the fire.. you know, because it's his first NHL game and all. Oh, and Adam Graves' number is being retired. Talk about being nervous.

We don't know he's playing yet...

I don't see why they would call him up and not play him. None of the beat writers are reporting injuries(not that they would DEFINITELY know) but it doesn't seem to make sense to me to call him up just to practice with the team unless they were going to play him.

It's a way to let him know he's on the radar, for the NY coaching staff to get a look at what they've got available, and to reward him for the hard work he's put in. They did it with Potter last year.

Not saying that's definitely what's gonna happen, just pointing out that until we hear it from Renney's mouth, there's not guarantees he'll get in the line up.

That, or maybe you just don't want to get your hopes up?

Definitely right about that.. At this point I think the Rangers can't afford NOT to let their best players play.. If Artem shows he can create more scoring than prucha, dawes, or voros- he should certainly stay in the line up. I have a feeling that Dawes is the odd man out and will be joining prucha in the press box.. or you know, someone else's team.

That's probably part of it too.

Mostly, it seems like the most logical explanation (to me anyway), given Renney's reluctance to sit his favorites so far this season, and considering there are still areas of Anisimov's game that could benefit from further development in Hartford.

All that said, does anyone remember Sam or Joe saying something about Betts taking a hard hit on Saturday and going straight off the ice? It was early in the game and he came back for his next shift, but maybe it was something that stiffened up overnight? I meant to go back and watch it on the DVR when they mentioned it, but never did.

Go PAP

Unfortunately I cannot follow the Pack, but it looks like PAP is the Wolf Pack's leading scorer with 53 points and AA has 50. I guess it wasn't updated on Rangers.com yet.

So far as of now, this is 2 impressive years from Parenteau playing in Hartford. Alright so he's 25 years old and in a couple of months will turn 26 but everyone wants so badly to give Prucha chance after chance. They're both about the same age. Also, I'd rather have P.A. Parenteau in there instead of Voros.

I think it's great that AA is getting his chance hopefully against the Thrashers and I'm looking forward to it. But IMO, I think PAP by looking at his stats alone, deserves a shot just as much as AA, playing for the Rangers.

It's been said before but PAP would have to pass waivers and I don't think the Rangers want to lose him for the sake of their minor league development. I think he'd have been called up otherwise. He's a free agent this offseason and I see him signing elsewhere. Somewhere he can get a shot. Hell, Craig Wellar got a chance in the NHL after leaving the Rangers organization.

See that's the part I do not understand. Why do the Rangers have to put PAP on waivers in the first place? I guess I'm unclear on a specific rule. How come AA does not have to pass waivers but PAP would?

anisimov is exempt from waivers because hes within 4-5 years of his first signing and hasnt played a full year in the nhl yet. pap is past the 4-5 years of his first pro signing and he is no longer exempt from waivers.

Does anyone think Hillier will get a shot with the pack next season? He had a really encouraging junoir career but he's kind of off the radar this year with the Checkers.

Hillier has been much better of late after getting off to a very disappointing start in the ECHL. He's smart player. I'm not entirely sure how the Pack's roster will round out next season but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Hillier on it somewhere.

Anisimov's playing for Hartford tonight and is definitely not sulking.

In fact, he's already got an assist on a Parenteau power play goal.

I wouldn't expect him to be considering he only played 4 minutes last night.

Yeah, mine's actually worked flawlessly right from the start, which is extremely unusual.

It was 9:27, which is perfectly respectable for a 20-year old rookie in his first NHL game.

The problem was my laptop and not AHL-Live( for once). Got it working now, had an absolute mare with it tonight and managed to buy the rochester vs rockford game by mistake so had to pay double to watch one period of the wolfpack game tonight. They better come up big in the third

and ten seconds after I posted that it's a 5-2 game :-(
