I figured something was eventually going to happen. Supposedly he never shows up at the office and has even caused some ****...But I think they briefly mention that in the TSN report.

Heh. I knew my post would get lost in the O.T. thread.

Sounds like Kelly and Lindros couldn't agree on what Eric's role was supposed to be.

That's because that thread has lost all forms of control, so anything that's actually meant to be posted there gets lost in the piles of ****.

Yeah, partly my fault. I'm working on correcting that.

EDIT: Ombudsman is a stupid word.

They talked about this on Hot Stove a few times. Apparently he kept sticking his nose in where it didn't belong according to PA people. He trying to police things that didn't need to be policed. Think of it as the person at your place of work who comes around incessantly to make sure everyone is doing their job. That's who I took it. The issue was that "well why did you want to have an ombudsman if you didn't want to be policed." And we all know the NHLPA needs to be policed.

''He was the wrong guy for the position,'' is how one source close to the rift responded to the news of Lindros' resignation.
Is there any Flyers fan truly surprised by that statement? Say what you want about how he played the game, but the guy just never had the strength or fortitude to assert himself.

That was the first thing that came to my mind...

Actually I am.....I actually thought he would be a good man for the job. Say what you want about his parent's influence, but if there is one thing Lindros always did was stand up for what he believed, regardless of whether he was right or wrong. He refused to play for 2 teams. He questioned the competence of the Flyers medical staff, which a couple other players have gone on to do and there certainly has been enough "evidence" to at least question them. He also took the mature approach when all the "slander" from Clarke and the organization was going on during their divorce.

We will never know the real reason. Some will say he was just doing his job, others will say he was the wrong man for the job.
