Right bet, wrong team

If you're too afraid to admit you've done this against the Habs, just mention another sports team (Or, if you've done it with another sports team, say that).

A lot of times in pre-game threads, I've seen Habs fans bet *against* the Habs. This always surprised me, as you'd think you'd *never*, even with a bad feeling, ever want to see the Habs lose. However, people do it, and sometimes, they are right.

If you've bet against the Habs and won, do you feel good for winning the bet or feel bad for being a poor fan? Does it make you feel good that the team didn't play well enough to win the game, or do you feel bad for not giving them support when they could have used it?

Just curious.

Well if you bet for the Habs and they lose you will be mad as hell!

If you vote for the other team and the Habs win then it dosen't matter.

If you vote for the other team and the other team win then it's free money to get drunk and forget about the game.

I've honestly never bet against the Habs. I might have thought about it once or twice. But I could never bring myself to do it.

I bet against the habs once in a while on the GPT thingy when they frustrate me. Then if they actually win I'll bet against them again on the next game for good luck...

Just because you want a team to win, doesn't mean they will win..
That doesn't mean you're not a good fan..it just means you know how other teams stack up against your team, that's all.

Usually I just stay away from a game rather than betting against the Habs, although I've done it a couple times

Same, it just wouldn't feel right to make money off a loss by the team you love.

I used to do it frequently, it made those bad seasons much more bearable. Think of it as an insurance policy.

re: habs fans betting against the habs

some people think that if they bet on any team that that team will surely lose because no one is unluckier than them

so they think they are jinxing the other team - therefore they are sacrificing their own money to help the habs win - they obviously are the best hab fans
