Actually considering the Sakic situation, maybe Drury to the Avs makes sense

Redden, Dawes, 2nd Rd pick to CGY

Cammalleri, Glencross to NYR

Looks like it would work under the cap for each.

Do it.

It's definitely lopsided.

Yeah and it doesn't even matter if we don't re-sign Cammy, as long as Redden is gone it is a win. However if this went down, we should offer Cammy that same contract we offered Redden; considering he would actually be worth it.

Why would Calgary trade their leading goal scorer when they're pretty much a lock for the playoffs?

I think Supersonic proposed it as a joke and I was just expressing my opinion on it. But in reality, that makes no sense for them just like you stated.

I wasn't being serious about that proposal.

It would work financially sure, but there is no way Calgary would do it.

No body is taking Redden's contract. We are stuck with it.

The NYR signed a 33 yr old overrated D-man to a 5 year deal at 6.5 mil per year. Who the hell wants to take on that salary?!? Especially if the Salary Cap might go down for the the next year or two.

colorado gets it up the bum here, redden and naslund's value is close to nill, while at least two out of the three col players have been performing at or above expectations this year.

I would try to work out something like gomez + picks/prospects for smyth

Sakic is done, Stastny is their first line C, gomez slides in cozily in the 2nd line position.

I would argue that Naslund is still valuable. He offers decent 2nd line scoring depth and experience to a cup competing team. If the Rangers free fall, he quickly becomes a valuable chip. He even has 1 year left on his contract but if we in the playoffs, I highly highly doubt Sather would move him.

Naslund also has a full NTC... But unless Renney is fired, I could see him waiving it. He was lured in because they had told him they were going to start using a more up-tempo offense. Hahaha yeah right

Drury to Colorado is an obvious connection.Dru would most likely waive his NMC for Colorado.Once a team asks a player to waive the clause,it's kind of hard for the player to remain on the team. The NMC prevents the Rangers from sending Drury to the AHL or buying him out that's all.Only problem with Dru to Colorado is Wolski's best position is probably center and they already have Statsny there but they could put Wolski on the wing.Dru,Gomez and Rozy are movable. The Rangers won't receive much value in return. They would be required to take back salary.

People seem to think this centers around Colorado, (probably because it's in the Denver post). But, as the updated link states, Calgary is also scouting the Rangers, and is reportedly looking to upgrade their D.

I really like the idea of making a Blockbuster with Colorado. They have tons of good young talent but for some reason seem to not be able to get into the playoffs

I think they would move big names and they have alot of them. I also think that with Sakic retiring they would go after Gomez to take that spot.........we will see

Smyth for Gomez?

Hate to break it to you... they don't "play a more uptempo offense" because they don't have goal scorers.

I think Naslund is our closest one though. But if Gomez would pass him the puck and not to the opposing d-man, he'd probably score some more goals.

Calgary is looking to move Lombardi

The Flames could use another D-man who can play 18 to 20 minutes and centre Matthew Lombardi might be their bargaining chip.

He's injured. And with our centers, don't you think redundant? Face it, unless Drury/Dubinsky really commits to playing we're stuck with our centers. If by some miracle we can trade Gomez, I doubt it happens till the off-season.
