Doaner easy. Kane will put up more points but this league and everything about this league focuses to much on stats. When doan is on the ice nobody in this game can stop him from getting the puck. He is also one of the best captains in the game today...

As a Ranger fan, we need both. On the one hand we need a natural top flight forward that can really elevate the whole team's play. On the other, we have zero leadership outside of Lunqvist. Drury is not C material, so Doan would certainly fill a void there. Overall though, if I were GM I would take Kane because I think if you're scoring more, the leadership comes. If you have leadership but no natural/real scoring talent, you can only go so far.

Doan has plently of scoring talent. Hes on pace for 30+ goals this season

Doan might not put up the points that Kane would, but he'd be better based on intangibles. Also, Doan is built for playoff hockey.

Kane, without a second thought. Kane is far more talented than Doan.

Leadership is great, but one guy's leadership cannot make an entire team stable. Kane's talent would ultimately be more important.

True, Doan has put up more points than Kane so far.

07-08:
Doan - 78 points
Kane - 72 points

08-09:
Doan - 48 points
Kane - 44 points

Methinks Kane would get destroyed in the playoffs.

Why even ask this question? You obviously take Doan if you are just considering them for playoff rentals. Long term you go with Kane.

And yet 40% of the people [ <12 years old perhaps?] vote for Kane....

How is Kane "far more talented?"

I really don't see the gap to be that big. Doan's putting up the same numbers, and is doing it on a team worse than the Hawks. Ignoring intangibles, Doan is still the better player now.
