Personnel Decisions

I've been wondering for a while, who really is the one behind the scratches/who plays scene?

I know it's the coach who sets the lines and so it would make sense that it's the coach who decides who's scratched, but how much of that do you think comes from the GM's influence?

Taking that question a step further, how much influence do you think Sather has in these decisions. Whether it's to showcase talent for a trade, or to back up his decision to sign/trade for someone, or because of salary, do you think Sather gets involved in that?

Day to Day its Renny. Sather will occasionally ask to have a guy "showcased" ala Rissmiller.

However I do think Renny is loathe to bench a guy his GM just signed for a boatload of money. But thats because Renny is a combination of smart and subservient, not because Sathers looking over his shoulder
