“Carbonneau put Georges out there… sent Georges out there, and he actually thought we were going to back down,” May contended. “I know all about that guy, and I’m talking about their coach. You know what? It’s not going to happen. It’s been 19 years [in the NHL] Guy… keep sending them out.”
Quote:
“Guy just doesn’t have any idea what’s it’s like to be a tough guy. The toughest guy in his family is Brendan Morrow, his son-in-law, who’s an unbelievable player and very tough.”
He's quick to mouth off now, but what was he saying when he went after Bouillon? Brad May is just jealous he'll never have the established career of Carbonneau, what a joke of a player.
Brad May got his ass whipped good on national television. Then again, so did our entire team. He's just a little sour. Calling out Carbo is pretty ridiculous. What code was broken exactly? I'm pretty sure George has been jonesing for someone even somewhat near his size to go with since he's trying to prove we need him in the lineup (and apparently on the PP!)
I'd love to hear comments from Carbo on that subject, though likely we won't get any.
Yeah, I can't quite figure it out either. It's either terrible writing, or incomprehensible rambling from a guy that's gotten one to many fists to the head.
If I'm reading this right, the May the bounty hunter has a problem with Carbo sending out Laraque to fight. Then he proceeds to imply that this goes against the respect that should be shown to heavyweights and that Carbo doesn't understand this because he wasn't a fighter?
Does this mean that May has never, ever been sent out by one of his coaches to fight? I guess when he picked a fight against Bouillon, that was completely spontaneous. Even if the coach doesn't say "you go fight that guy", it's pretty well implied that a tough guy is going to fight, if the situation's right and he has a dance partner.
If coaches didn't send out heavyweights to fight guys like Laraque and May would be working at Burger King instead of playing in the NHL.
Just sounds like a guy crying about how he got beat up.
I think everyone's aware that Laraque is a big guy and few can hope to take him down. That May answered the bell got a lot of respect from both the Habs' and the Leafs' benches.

Reason: we'll mod, thanks
Maybe he'll put a bounty on Carbo's head for next game.
May shouldn't be ostracized for Bertuzzi's mistake. He cares a lot about his players and while I never agreed with May's comments about Steve Moore, he's a throw-back NHLer in which there are very few in today's league.
I appreciate what he gives to his teams, the Leafs are the latest beneficiaries of his leadership and experience.
May knows how Carbonneau played and how he coaches. He's implying that Carbonneau hides behind bigger players and/or uses dirty tactics to try and intimidate or hurt players on the other team. May is also implying that he's been around long enough to see through Carbonneau's tactics, so he's not going to be intimidated by him.
Hopefully that clears up any mis-understandings you two girls might have had.
Carbonneau has gone on record before saying he has no interest in goons who can't play hockey. He didn't sign Laraque. Gainey did. May, Berger and yourself don't seem to know that. That's fine. I couldn't ****ing care less.
Carbonneau puts 1 of his 12 forwards on the ice. Suspend him now.

"Using dirty tactics to try and intimidate or hurt players on the other team" - gee, sounds a lot like like when May went after Bouillon. And now he's whining that he had to answer the bell to a real enforcer.
What a joke. This guy probably thinks he's Gretzky now because of all the ridiculous media coverage surrounding his trade to Toronto when he's nothing more than a scrub, and apparently a bit of a baby at that.
May should have known before the game started that it would be payback time at some point during the game for fighting Bouillon on Jan 8th.
The last time we played the Leafs, Tom Kostopoulos knew he'd receive some visit because it was the first game since he had seriously injured Mike Van Ryn in a boarding incident. He faced the musuc took a beating against Jamal Mayers and life goes on. May is a wuss for calling out Carbonneau.

Mayers should really have fought Van Ryn if he wanted revenge on the person that injured him.
