A very common poll, don't think it has been done recently or at all in the polls section
Two very similar goalies, they both played in the NCAA as two of the top goalies, they now play in the AHL and have gotten stints at the NHL level. Elliott is 23 and Schneider is 22. They have had similar stats throughout their careers. They are both 6'2, around 200lbs and they both catch left handed. Etc...
At this point you have to give the edge to Schneider. He's been the best Goaltender in the AHL since last december, and despite the fact he was put in the horrible situation in Vancouver this year, he is probably the best goalie prospect not currently playing regularly in the NHL. Him being a year younger also helps his cause. Overall it's closer than this poll will be, but he still takes it.
I think Schneider will be the better goaltender. However the difference between Schneider and Elliot is closer than this poll indicates. I think Schneider can hit franchise level whereas I see Elliot being just a tad below, a very good number one ala Voukon.
If I had to justify, I suppose its from watching both play granted I've had limited exposure to both. That and Schneider's numbers have always been just a bit better I think.
