There is no off season, he's a UFA so we could lose him and get nothing in return.

Being honest, Im not totally set on Nitty leading the way through the whole playoff series. Even if Im one of the ones that dont base Biron just off his playoff play, like a lot of people do, Id be more comfortable with Nitty/Biron then a Nitty/Monroe.

I'd imagine if this was true (which I'm sold that it is) that Holmgren would be looking to upgrade the goalie position going to the playoffs...not downgrade it.

Id be all up for an upgrade, if it doesnt destroy our lineup going into playoffs.

Need help with fantasy. Should I drop Biron for any of these goalies: Nitty, Elliot, Quick or Danis?

Wouldn't really surprise me. I expected a goaltender trade before the deadline because I didn't really think Holmgren would want to enter Free Agency without at least one goaltender locked up and neither goalie we have looked desirable for a contract extension.

The Sun has zero credibility in my eyes. It seems more like opinion to me. They looked at the stats and said hmm, this makes sense.

Salary cap? Don't those players make much more than Biron and Lupul combined?

Kabi - 6.750
Barker - 2.442
= 9.192

Biron - 3.5
Lupul - 2.312
= 5.812

LOL. Yeah Dig, they do.

These are cap numbers, not this years salaries. Also, Kabi is a UFA and Barker is a RFA after the season.

Yea I may have overlooked that aspect

That would be 9.5 mil in salary, 6.75 coming off at the end of the season however.

I'm not surprised by this rumor, but I would be surprised it anything actually happens.

i like niitty, i hope he continues to do well, but i'm reluctant to say that he's been awesome this season and is completely deserving of the starting job. looking at the games he's played this year, i'll give him like 5 outstanding games, max. he did a great job in the boston game the other day. other than that, what else? he beat a colorado team that played us well before but has gone downhill since, he played well against pittsburgh at the beginning of the year, then **** the bed in OT. of his 13 wins this year 10 of them are against the southeast division. he played a phenomenal game against the caps when he basically won in the first period, but still. 10 wins against the weakest division in hockey. there's a little bit of inflation there. biron has not played up to his capabilities this year, for sure, but be careful about reading too much into niitty's success this year.

If Biron was part of a package they would be able to possibly add a player as well as clear enough space for Briere to return.

Except that would be absolutely unnecessary.

we ain't going to get a better goaltender that actually is available.
I'd really like to see Nitty in the playoffs, he's earned it this year.

Not just this year. Over his carrer he is great in big game situations, however, never had the "big game" chance for the flyers.

Here is something that people never thought of;

He is 14-0 against the thrashers cause they are big games for him. He takes them personally going against a fellow Finn and/or trying to keep the streak alaive. Sure, the Thrashers suck but 14 straight tells you lots. Plus, an amazing save against Kolvy that catapulted them into a playoff position last year.

It's no fluke. He seems unfocussed at times in games he isn't prepared or motivated for, but the ones he is, he excels. I think he'd be great in the playoffs for us if given the chance. Look what he does for Finland in big games.

Kinda torn on this...I wish Biron was the guy we saw in the playoffs last year. He has the potential but really can't keep it up which is unfortunate because he seems like a decent guy too. But at the end of the day, that doesn't cut it.

Nitty, I'm worried is too streaky too. When he has a bad game, he seems to reeeealy have a bad game.

The whole goaltending issue just worries me. I wish we had someone solid night in and night out but thats what all teams wish and really there's only a handful of them in the league altogther.
