I wasn't clamoring for him to be back, but this would be a punch in the gut.

If this happens, I'll go buy a hat, and then I'll eat it.

How reputable is this source? Doesn't Jagr have to pass through waivers?

Well, where was he gonna sign, here? Better the Oilers where we will never see him than the Penguins

Yes he does. I don't know why he'd risk it.

He's a beat writer. I'd say he's pretty reputable.

And yes, he would have to pass through waivers, but what if he simply chooses not to report to another team?

Then any team in the western conference with a lower waiver claim than the Oilers would claim him even if he refused to report so they didn't have to worry about competing against him. At least, that's what I'd do. Why let Jagr onto a competing team if you can effectively block it?

Who knows?

Some have said that this would be for next season, so that he can bypass waivers during the off-season.

But I don't buy that because if he was going to wait until then he could just get a load of offers from teams looking to add a big piece like him. I'd be more teams would be interested than last summer.

**** it, the thing might not even be true anyway. We'll see.

Don't know... this doesn't seem very realistic. To add to that, I doubt the Oilers even make the playoffs with him.

The Oilers are in danger of missing the playoffs. If they get him now they could trade him at the deadline to ANYONE. Pony up now take a chance of Jagr catapulting you to the mix and if not sell him for a good roster player and a 1st

ouch

If he signs for the max pro-rated, I doubt anyone else would want to pick up that salary.

That being said it would be surprising and disappointing. Was hoping he'd resign in New York in the offseason (assuming he has an opt-out clause).

I wasen't hoping for his return all that much either...but, Jagr -the "C" IMO is much bette then Jagr the soft-spoken leader. Low risk for the Ragners if he did return...but it looks like Pitt has been mentioned, and now Edmonton mentioned. I guess Renney's conversation with the Czech Mullet went no where!

No they can't. Any player that goes through waivers can not be traded in the same year without going back on waivers to give all the teams that put in a claim for him another shot to get him

Because he played in the khl this year. Any player that plays in another league has to pass through waivers first. Just like Wade Dubi

Then I call nonsense. 11 teams ahead of edmonton. I have a hard time believing none will claim him.

Yeah, but he has no contract, so how would that work? Also, he's breaking his KHL contract, are thre any implications?

Lastly, I think people are being naive if they dont think this has a LOT to do with it.
