The 7 on 5's tonight were brutal- the guys in black pants laid the smackdown on us as often as the guys in red and white. Lethal combo. Actually, it was a fun game to attend even though we couldn't get the job done. Ugly SOG totals. We really have a fun barn-sometimes it's easy to forget when our team is struggling. Pretty decent crowd. Not worth the effort to post the negatives- it is what it is.
Its hard not giving up alot of shots when you are constantly killing penalties. I wish our PP was half as smooth as the Wings. Ticky tack calls all night long. The only goal Rinne gave up I had a problem with was the 3rd, that was weak. Ward played outstanding. I'm glad they battled back into it atleast.
Ward's line played an outstanding game. As others have said, amazing how good 3-4th liners can be when played on the 3-4th line. Bad effort by Arnott last night. And there were several extremely weak calls last night-- Jones penalty, Legwand/Conky dive, even one against the red juggernaut. At least they did not lay down on us.
Unfortunately, the only weak goal Rinne gave up turned out to be the game winner.
I wouldnt call it weak by any means. First off, the shot was deflected off of Webers stick and completely changed directions. Secondly, backhands are hard to judge where they are going anyways, much less when they change flight/direction.
