I honestly think the last thing the stars need is an injury prone D-man. That we have plenty of it seems.

Alrighty then... so much for that fantasy.

Thanks for the info, grabo84. Much appreciated.

If you're referring to depth this year, you are correct.

If you're referring to the future of the organization, that's wrong.

Scoring Wingers (Eriksson on Pace for 40):
Brenden Morrow
Loui Eriksson - On pace for 40 in his 2nd full season.
James Neal - On pace for 30 as a rookie
Fabian Brunnstrom - On pace for 20 as a rookie despite missing significant time to a high ankle sprain.
Jamie Benn (Top Prospect)
Sergei Korostin (Top 6 Prospect/ Not Blue Chip)
Colton Sceviour (Top 6 Prospect/ Not Blue Chip)

Defensive Forwards (Eriksson 2nd best on the team):
Loui Eriksson - Mini Jere Lehtinen
Steve Ott
Brian Sutherby - If they re-sign him
Raymond Sawada
James Neal

Dallas isn't going to trade him, but they are far from weak at his position/role.

I'd say Eriksson is at the top of the untouchable list closely followed by James Neal and Jamie Benn. Brunnstrom would be next, but I could see him being the odd man out next year because Eriksson (RFA), Brunnstrom (RFA), James Neal (RFA), Matt Niskanen (RFA), Nicklas Grossman (RFA), and Steve Ott (UFA) are free agents in 2010.

I would not be shocked if one of the forwards were traded for a defenseman, but not before the summer or during the 2009 season. That forward would either be Ott or Brunnstrom.

Bash Away
stop making proposals. I know you obviously like them but you keep asking for pieces that teams aren't intersted in trading. Please until you've been around for a little while and get a feel for what fan bases feel about their players please stop

If your gonna start a thread and feel a need to add bash away maybe you should realize that it's not a good idea to go through with starting the thread.

I don't put Lehtinen and Eriksson into the same defensive forward category as I do Ott, Sutherby, Neal, etc. Lehtinen has won Selkes, and Eriksson is the only other player on the team that I think is capable of winning Selkes.

Don't get me wrong, I think Neal will end up being a great two way forward,(he already is). BUT Neal is very, very openly aggressive on his defensive play, he can force turnovers, but he's also going to get burnt at times due to over-pursuit. Lehtinen and Eriksson, on the other hand, are very calm. They are able to read the play perfectly and put themselves into the right position to be most effective.

I have absolutely no lack of faith in the future of this team, and I look forward to see how they all develop. I'm not attacking the team's prospects or depth, I'm just saying Eriksson is in the upper echelon of two-way play.

Benn is going no where until he test drives a Stars jersey.

Sceviour has some serious upside..I have watched a few game he has played and the games i have seen he was fantastic. A friend i went to school with moved up to Lethbridge and he catches a lot of games and he even says he is the best player on the ice most nights.
