Realistically, Gainey probably can't make any big moves (like there's been any in the NHL since the draft) and even if he can, won't overpay. Meaning Carbonneau and his players better sort themselves out.

Gainey's best move, bringing in Huet. Gainey's worst move, firing Julien because he was playing Huet over Theodore/because he wanted to employ his buddy. Another tie for his worst move was trading Huet at last years deadline, thereby forcing Price into a situation he clearly wasn't ready for and its looking like his career in Montreal is severely threatened because of the mental shock.

I would NOT trade Carbonneau for anyone else at this point. Period! I'd get rid of one of the clique first, the Kovalev group. If the team still struggles after that, then look at the coach. It's painfully obvious that half the players give an effort and want to win, the other half doesn't give a rat's ass!

How does Kovalev not give a rat's ass? I'm not the biggest Kovalev fan but the guy actually does care and IS trying. Our team was down 6-1 in the third and he got high sticked and needed stitches, did he just quit on the team and not come back? No, he came back even though the score was out of reach. He makes $4.5 million and he has the ability to take control of games by himself, sure he can be lazy but its not like we're paying him $8 million a year. The team relied on him so much last year that I guess it became expected of him by the fans to carry the team on his back every night this year.

Last year our PP carried us where we got in the regular season, other teams have adjusted to our PP yet our coaches have not came up with a new strategy to help our powerplay. If one or two players weren't showing up every night it'd be different but since 80% of the team hasn't been showing any heart lately its evident that the coaching staff and the players haven't seen eye to eye lately.

You hire a new coach and if guys like Kovalev still don't produce that is when you trade them. Carbonneau's whole tenure here has been filled with inconsistent play by the team and how its finally reached the point where more people have been noticing.

How many ****ing coaches did Kovalev have? How was his career you tell me? You get rid of Kovalev before you get rid of the GM's coach.

Well he's played for three different teams so obviously he's not going to have only one coach...

Kovalev's won a Stanley Cup and has close to a PPG in the playoffs, those aren't the type of players you find every day.

He's a cancer. Get rid of him and the team will do better. When HE wants to play, he's good. When HE decides not to, you see the results right now!
