Filip Kuba

Visnovsky out for the remainder of the season.

Grebeshkov out 2 weeks minimum with High Ankle Sprain

The Oilers need a stop-gap, how much for Filip Kuba?

Not sure you'd want to pony up for Kuba. IMO he'll be getting a 1st rounder minimum. He's most likely headed to a stronger team thats all but guaranteed a playoff berth, one that has hopes of a long playoff run. The Oilers are a bubble team as of right now-are they willing to outbid the entire league for Kuba in the hopes they can simply make the playoffs?

There are probably less expensive options out there.

I was sure this was done very recently, so I searched this particular forum for posts made in the last 6 months that include the name Kuba.

There are 194 results.

It's somewhat ironic; the search function is basically useless because the same threads are made every week. You can actually get a really good idea of how a particular player's season is going based on the Value Of: threads including him go, week-to-week...

As for your question... A 1st'09 and mid-level prospect? The problem is that there isn't a single team 'out of it' in the West, so there are a lot of buyers, and with not many sellers, supply and demand should make this trade deadline kind of ridiculous not in terms of players moved, but assets moved for players.

I mean, look at half the teams in the West - Chicago, Anaheim, Vancouver, Dallas, Phoenix, Nashville, and maybe even Colorado probably have varying levels of interest in Kuba as well.

My guess is at least an NHL ready prospect + 2nd in 2009

The demand for offensive top 4 D at the deadline will likely raise this up, and I can see him garnering a 1st in 2009 if there are multiple teams vetting for a trade.

Run it on Kaberle and your computer will short circuit then explode.

I think this is exactly his value and would be thrilled if true.

I would be thrilled if we got a 1st, but I doubt that happens. A 2nd rounder and a prospect sounds right.

He has to waive his stupid NTC though. Boo.

I do not think that Kuba has a NTC.. and if he did he does not anymore since he would have had to waive it when he was traded from Tampa, which means it is void now I believe..

Anyways, Ottawa would like a 1st round pick for Kuba + a Mid level prospect.. (Kudelka/Daugavins)..

no he still has it

it is only void if a player's who NTC didnt KICK IN YET is traded.

IE if we trade Spezza now the team that gets him doesnt have to honours his ntc

2nd rounder + prospect has a very similar value (depending on the prospect) as a first rounder, and in some cases, a better value than a 1st rounder.

I dont get it. People rag on us Leaf fans when we say we want a roster player+1st rounder+and a prospect for Kaberle.

Yet on this thread, Kuba will net you a 1st + mid prospect?

Hes decent, but his numbers are inflated by his hot start. 14 pts in 13 games. Since then he has come back to earth. Hes never scored over 40 points, he did have a 15 goal season, but only has 1 this year.

How can you say that the only difference between Kuba and Kaberle is a roster player, Kuba is a rental too.

Myself I doubt Kuba would get a 1st plus a prospect but I'd say a 1st alone wouldn't be out of the question. As to Kaberle worth 2 more years at 4.25 million he should get at least a 1st, top level prospect and NHL player IMO. Otherwise he's worth more to keep around. Kubina should be the one who gets shopped around as Kaberle brings way more offense.

kuba will not get a first and a prospect. maybe a late first. but most likely a mid second and forward prospect for bingamton. kuba's goal stats are low because he barely never shoots. he'd rather make a pass 9/10 times. it's almost as if he's scared of hitting an opposing player in the shins and injuring them.

one good thing is that becasue he always passes to the side is that he doesn't give up many break aways on the PP

Kuba will not be getting a 1st+prospect. Any GM who is interested in Kuba will know of his past playing history + hot start this season...they aren't idiots.

Yes, GMs only make prudent trades like Zhitnik for Coburn, Gill for 2nd, and Rivet for 1st + prospect.

I am thinking a Nhl player a prospect and 2nd rounder.

I would agree if this was the case.... But Leafs fans seem to think they're getting Hodgson, JVR and a 1st along with one of them.
