For those of you who would like a visual:

The FAA says it was 6 miles / 5 minutes away from landing.

My fiancee was spooked as hell when I told her. I wasn't, until I realized that another few miles and it would have been damn close to us. Now I'm spooked.

Looking at the video feed right now and you can see the tail of the plane. That really drives it home, seeing the tail of a plane in the middle of what was a house.

I'm not gonna be able to get to sleep tonight.

Dear Lord, please watch over everyone involved and their families . . . may the forty-nine souls who are now home rest in peace.

Wow terrible tragedy. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Buffalo, and to the families of those on the plane.

This seems surreal because it is a common flight in the area, and is so routine. NHL teams must make similar trips all the time. The San Jose Sharks are going to make the reverse trip this very weekend. Very scary stuff, and makes it hit home.

Afino and I were just about to go to bed and I was channel flipping while he snoozed.

So heartbreaking...my thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families and my prayers are with those responding on scene. Unbelievable.

EDIT: This guy is on MSNBC is saying witnesses on the ground are saying the plane was on fire, in the air before it crashed.

fuselage made a creator in the ground. Sadly there is no way anyone can survive that.

I figured you were talking about 9/11, which was less than 8 years ago.

I don't know if there's been a more recent crash.

EDIT: I removed the quote as well.

Imagine just hanging out at home, then all of a sudden, a plane crashes into your house and you're dead.

Now they're saying more than one house got a direct hit.

I believe this is the house that was hit:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=4...70357368818314

If so, there is no way only one house is damaged.

No I wasn't talking about Sept. 11. It was about two month after September 11th and it took off from one the 3 major airports in NYC and crashed a couple minutes after takeoff. Sorry if it sounded bad, which it did, I didn't mean for it to.

No problem, understood. It's my fault for missing your point.

This is crazy. Thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.

There was some crazy hurricane-like winds in NYC today, are there windy conditions in Buffalo?

This is so strange. My grandparents died in a plane crash in 1976. His name was Clarence, and I'm pretty sure it was Feb. 13th. Crazy

I'm a pilot, i just listented to the ATC archive of the pilots and ATC communications before the crash, and there is a female pilot. My old flight instructor was a female pilot who currently works for Colgan, im freaking out.
