I always liked the idea of Carbo as Habs coach, but IMO he has lost this team. It happens to the best of them, even Bowman when he was with the Sabres. IMO the time for patience is done. Gainey should pull a Lou Lamoriello and replace Carbo with himself and find a permanent replacement in the summer. Also consider promoting Lever to assistant coach.

Gainey is the best coach in the entire organization.

Carbo needs better players.. Lang and Lats down screwed up his system.. They were verry important to this team in ways..

I don't see anybody getting fired at this point.

a change will be made before the next habs home game - if not before.

gainey himself is starting to have his godly reputation tarnished because of this collapse and will do something he didnt want to do - fire his friend who cant get this team gainey built to play.

I really think Gainey will pull the trigger on a deal of some kind before Wednesday. This team needs something done, and IMO Gainey won't just watch the ship sink.

You don't go out and hire a new coach now. You do an interm duty like Gainey coming in or Muller or Lever doing an interm.

Something needs to be done.

My major issue is why has Gainey been so invisible?

He has not said boo to the media, I hope he is busy calling and pondering moves inside and outside the organization...I also hope Gillet is on his back teling him it is time to do something.

He wouldn't do that.

And if he did, we have a capable former GM in Gauthier or young Brisebois in Hamilton to do interm duties.

Gainey wouldn't step down during a season, not in his character.

In the summer yes, during the season no.

Expect nothing as usual

Let's look back at the last few trade deadlines

2008 - Traded Huet, got nothing back
POINT FINALE
2007 - Picked Michael Leighton up off Waivers
POINT FINALE

See the patern?
As usual, Gainey won't go get anyone

If I had 3 wishes, I'd use one to cure Pat Burns.

Bob Gainey will do something to shake his team before Wednesday. He will not fire Carbonneau but he will help him until the return of Alex Tanguay. I think that he has no choice, something has to be done. An exchange for a defensemen appears to be the only option for him. Maybe it will not be the offensive defensemen we are looking since a long time, but something big and physical to clear the net in front of Price or Halak. Komisarek is injured presently (shoulder), he has no bodycheck yesterday against Vancouver. Markov is playing his worst hockey since his arrival in Montreal. We can not have confidence only on Hamrlik and Bouillon for this job. And Brisebois is not this kind of player.

Speaking of Brisebois, how many games left for 1000?

I expect Gainey to fire Carbo very soon, if not today. I dont want this to happen but is Gainey really have the choice? It seems obvious to me that the players want the head of Carbo. Yes it's sad, but do you reaaly think Gainey have the choice at this point, it is almost impossible to make a transaction and there is no UFA on the market.

Check his interview, seriously, I pity him

I dson't want a deszperate trade right now, that's the worst thing Gainey could do. I want Carbonneau to be gone, I'm tired of his being outcoached almost every game.

-they keep playing that horrible "4 guys back" trap that only leads to goals against
-he sits guys that should be playing(O'byrne) while dressing struggling d-men(Gorges) or guys that are on their last legs(Brisebois)
-he sticks 4th l.iners with our top skill guys and can't figure out why the offense is drying up

A desperate trade will be the worst that can happen right now. You think that sequence is bad, wait till you trade some great assets that will flourish later in order to play 2 more games in the playoffs.

completely agree with you guys,he should just try to get rid of players that he knows for sure will not be back with the team next year or players that are not part of his future plans

Guy Carboneau sounds verry shaky in latest interviews.. Bob do something, either you end his suffering or help him.. Carb is human, stop the suffering you fool..

It's pathetic..
