Best Stars playoff game

Random I'm bored as hell thread...

Thinking back on the best overall playoff games the Stars have been involved in, game 5 of the 2000 WCF always comes to mind first for me. The tension throughout the game was almost unbearable, both teams playing as though their lives depended on the outcome.

As for the best game in which we lost...just picture Grant Ledyard falling down

I'm still partial to game 6 against San Jose last season, mostly because I was at the game. Remarkable saves, incredible hits, and the explosion when Morrow scored the goal was great.

Right now I'd go with this as well (after the Cup win, naturally). Greatest overtime periods I've ever seen, from Nabokov's amazing save to Turco's and capped off with that glorious tap-in by Morrow, just an amazing game, best of any in last year's playoffs by far.

It was a great game, but I'm a little bitter about it since it basically cost our team its playoff run (injuries + tired legs). Ribeiro blew two up-close chances and Richards gets robbed, and you know the rest of the story.

I'd say any close, tense games versus Colorado in the 1999 or 2000 playoff run were great.

Game 6 against Buffalo in 99'. That's my all-time Stars playoff game.
Game 6 last year against SJ when we won in OT is close to that game as well.

Its a hard choice I really think that game 6 of the 08 playoffs vs the sharks was the best. I was mad I wasnt able to go or watch the first parts of the game due to the fact I had a hockey banquet (my team won state last year). I was able to watch the third and all the OTs

Or the Stanley Cup game, which I was only 10 and I was forced to turn off the TV but I still watched it anyway

1A. Game 7, 1999 Conference Finals against Colorado (the value of a Keane eye)
1B. Game 6, 1999 Stanley Cup Finals against Whine-alo
2. Game 6 2008 Semi-Finals against San Jose

Oh man, I remember being at that game. What a crowd. It's a shame the AAC isn't that crazy loud

We played St. Louis in the '99 conference semi-finals

I think he meant last year, we didn't play SJ at all in the playoffs that year, in 2000 we played them in the semis' but it didn't go to a game 6

EDIT: looks like he fixed it a minute before I posted this

Game 6 against Buffalo is unquestionable the best Stars playoff game ever.

Back in my youth, I was lucky enough to have season tickets from about 1996 to 2002. So, I saw almost all of the home playoff games in person. No question that 1999, game 7 against Colorado was the most exciting game I ever attended. It's hard to explain how crazy it was inside Reunion that game. The intensity had been building all through the playoffs and even from the previous seasons. I wonder what Reunion would have been like if we had lost game 6 against Buffalo and had to play a game 7 of the finals at home. A sick little tiny part of me inside wanted to find out since I had tickets to game 7.

I'll go with Game 7 vs Colorado in 99. Unreal game by the Stars. Crowd was going crazy pretty much the entire game.

By far the loudest I've ever heard a Stars game.

Haha I was the same way. But I seriously don't think either team had much left in the tank, if any, after that game 6.

it will probably stay that way, the acoustics of the AAC are terrible because of the size and shape (not saying I don't like the AAC though). I am still kind of disappointed they are tearing down reunion but that is how it goes. It was costing the city millions in maintenance. Oh well there will always be great memories there from the Stars games occasionally the Mavs games and weirdly my high school graduation.

No doubt.

Granted, I wasn't there for Game 6 against San Jose so don't know how that sounded...but Game 6 against Anaheim sure brought back memories of Reunion and the noise produced from it.

My biggest complaint with the AAC is not so much the size/acoustics resulting in a more docile atmosphere, but rather the numerous bars/clubs/restaurants that too many people spend their time in rather than their seats during the games. Many in Dallas view Stars games as a social rather than a sporting event, and the JD club and the likes enable these types to skip the actual game so they can talk about their new beamer.

No doubt about that. They didn't build that arena with the average fan in mind. We had season tickets from 1996 till the first year at the AAC. We hated the AAC compared to Reunion. Our AAC seats were so far away from the ice compared to Reunion. As you get to the upper levels AAC, everything gets pushed up and back compared to Reunion. Plus, it took forever to get in and out of the Arena. At reunion I could get from my seats to my apartment quicker than I could get from my AAC seats to my car. And the game experience just wasn't the same. All those little things added up.

But, those expensive clubs, restaurants, bars, and luxury boxes allow the team to spend money on players...

I think you meant that the other way. The average fan has been taken into mind way too much.

It's the die hard fans that the arena wasn't built in mind for.

By average, I meant guys in the upper deck and lower priced tickets. Should have said true fans. Not corporate boxes and celebrities sitting down low. Ironic that about the only way I get to a game in person these days is in my companies corporate box... and that's only if the game is against the worst team in the league that nobody else wants the tickets.
