That said- he's really not the kind of player you need (not a "high skill" guy at all- his "skill" is his grit, positioning and extraordinary character) and he's made it clear in the past that he's not an "east coast" guy. Maybe the Sather angle would have some appeal to him... but... mehh....

Overpaid, lots of miles already logged and injury prone. Barking up the wrong tree on this one IMHO.

Couldn't say it better myself. An impact player is what is required. Perhaps that would make Renney's strategy look a lot better too, as long is it didn't screw up the newly acquired scorer.

smyth for gomez I would do in a heartbeat, Drury for Smyth seems like a wash to me. Both players are overpaid, ad both have great leadership qualities. I would rather base the team around both of them than one of them + Gomez.
