It's the Roy-Tremblay saga again without the live TV action....
Thanks WS, i needed a good chuckle this afternoon !

would Kovy like it in Tampa?

that said if Gainey is showing him the door and it seems he is then kovys"razzle dazzle" has to be replaced with someone who can make the Bell Centre go wild like Kovy can .

Im pretty excited to see what happens in the next week .

Clearly he's gone. Who needs rest from coasting all season? It's basically a "we're trying to get rid of you and we know you're a primadonna and will probably affect the play of this team knowing your departure is approaching. Therefore stay the **** away until we get a deal done".

They were talking to atlanta since early november but were broken because Tampa Bay Gm came to him. The Gorges Plekanec Subban were named that he ask for and not the opposite
per CKAC

Mcguire just said on CKAC that the Tampa Lightning approached the Habs concerning Lecavalier and they even suggested some names like Higgins, Plekanec and Gorges.

Woww...screw you Brian ''Lecavalier was never in the discussions'' Lawton.

If I'm Lecavalier, I ask for a trade haha! What a joke...

990 says gainey put him on ''forced rest'' for this week.

imo this is gainey benching kovalev since carbo wouldn't do it.

I don't think it means that Kovalev is gone, that a trade is coming, that whatever big star is coming.

I think Kovalev has been benched. He is now a healthy scratch and because of the huge contribution he brings to the team when he is at his best, Gainey thought it would be best to tell him this way. That's what I see in this. I don't expect another trade anytime soon.

To me, the only thing that the TBay management did was to get this out to see what the reaction would be. Now that they're reacted in TBay the way they did, they deny it. And most definately if needed, it's St-Louis who'll be leaving. My understanding anyway.

Not sure though that after what Gainey said that we'll be trading partners anytime soon.

i guess we'll never see kovalev play another game with the habs again. kinda like they did with samsonov a few seasons ago... the day he got benched, we knew it was over.

I love it. Bob is slowly cutting the cancer out of this team. I prey he can deal Kovalev, but for now "forced rest" will have to do. I've said for ages that Kovy is a terrible influence on the Kostitsyns and Plekanec.

Geez...all this in order to give the #27 to Schneider. Pretty imaginative though.

Not that I want to defend Kovalev or anything;
Not that I want to put too much emphasis on stats;

But just for the fun of it, let's look at Kovy's even strength stats.

2007-2008, 35 points in 82 games. 0.427 ppg
2008-2009, 23 points in 57 games. 0.404 ppg (that's 33 pts over 82 games)

Looks like Kovalev might be missing Streit after all.

I just find it strange that you bring a guy like Schneider for the PP to restart a guy like Kovalev....and you sit him.

Really? The team had Cancer for the last ~10 years according to many. Every year it's someone new. It feels a lot like we're not done with that problem anytime soon regardless of who gets cut.

That's exactly where I wanted to get the discussion going after my last post (#113)

I imagine Kovalev is most definitely pissed off about this. No one wants to be embarrassed like that in this city, and he no doubt wants to play hockey. Either this wakes him the **** up or he sulks and will no longer be a part of the team via a trade.

This is a good opportunity to see how the Habs can respond without Kovalev in the lineup, and will give us a mini preview of next year. Go MaxPac.. this is your time to shine.
