How about:

Chris Higgins (30 goal winger)
Andrei Kostitsyn (This guy could do a lot of damage with Crosby)
Maxime Lapierre (very good 3rd line center, Staal could be promoted to 2nd line duty)
PK Subban (very good D prospect)
1st 09

You couldn't land lecavalier with that package.....forget Malkin already. Chris Higgins' value is pretty low right now, Lapierre isn't worth a lot either...

This would be more than enough to get Lecavalier. Tampa bay's GM asked for a lot less himself.

I believe this package would turn the penguins into a better team instantly, plus they would get a good prospect + the 1st round pick, nothing to spit on.

I have yet to see a Malkin proposal with Anaheim. Something centered around Getzlaf and Perry? Cap is close. Getzlaf, Perry and Ryan? I think that's too much but there must be something there that even Pen fans would like.

That would be a ridiculous trade.

If they do trade him, whatever they get will not make Pens fans happy. If they think they will get 2 top players, they're wrong. Trades are NEVER even value, almost never, and normally the team trading the better player always loses.

I'm not sure what you are saying. Are you saying that Getzlaf and Perry is pretty close but Pens fans wouldn't like it?

nothing to spit on, I agree....but if they decided to move Malkin, ther could get more than that from another team, for sure.

You're right, I guess I was trying to find out what kind of package would be "fair" for Malkin, but the team that would land him would probably largely overpay.

I'm saying Getzlaf and Perry is WAY more than what it would take.

2nd 2010

for Malkin, Gill, and Fedtenko

Pens new line-up:
Michalek-Crosby-Sykora
Clowe-Staal-Kennedy
Dupuis-Talbot-Cheechoo
Cooke-Jeffrey-Thomas

Vlasic-Whitney
Gonchar-Orpik
Letang-Scuderi
Eaton

Sharks
Pavelski-Thornton-Setoguchi
Marleau-Malkin-Fedtenko
Plihal-Mitchell-Grier
Shelly-Goc-Roenick

Boyle-Lukowich
Blake-Ehrhoff
Murray-Gill

And that is why no team will make the trade necessary to bring in a player like Malkin. And to be honest, I am not sure this makes Pitt significantly better for them to do it either.

Are you out of your mind?

Pittsburgh fans have to come to grips with the fact that no player in the league is going to garner what they're supposedly "worth." No team is going to trade 3-4 top young players and high-round picks for one player. It just does not happen.

That is why Malkin will not be traded, and if by some Ray Shero drug-induced haze he is, he sure as hell is not going to bring back the return some Penguins' fans think he will.
