Still...hockeywise, going from Kovalev to Picard would make me remember the greatest years of Witehall and Éric Landry....It would be a sad day. Even if you end up getting Jokinen, as if Jokinen was so great in the playoffs, oh wait, he never was able to get his team there.

I know I have this obsession with skilled big centermen, but Jokinen isn't one of them.

The Columbus trade has been broke out by Quebec City's 99.3 Martin Pouliot at around 12h20 today. Here's what I posted at noon today, with a podcast link.

Take it for what it is. Quebec radio station 93,3 just said that Bob McKenzie mentioned a deal would be close to be done with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Canadiens would send Alex Kovalev and a prospect (no info) to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Michael Peca and Alexandre Picard.

I'm not a rumour kind of guy and do not want to start thread about that. This is the first I post in 3 years on HF boards, but since I've seen nothing on that I thought I could report it on here. If people heard McKenzie about that, confirmation would be appreciate.

Edit : Radio podcast http://www.le933.com/juste_pouliot_pod_4.html 29-02-18, 12h00 à 12h30 at around 21:20
Who knows if 102.9 is just picking up on that or they have genuine info.

I wish they would run athletics and amateur sports instead of it. TSN has high school football. Got no idea who the kids are, but I'm there. I guess the fishing show costs less to do and that's why RDS airs it.
holy a guy just shot 2 Ducks !

Kovy to Anaheim?

You could've said the same for Luongo during his time in Florida.....but I guess Luongo sucks, right?

Peca

Does he have anything left in the tank? Might be ok as depth guy/4th liner for the playoffs . . . .

If Gainey has an opportunity to add Jokinen without giving up any prospects that are NHL ready today/next year

He has to pull the trigger

Buy low

Picard is from the area of Quebec... so I can believe a guy from Quebec could get the info before someone from Montreal. News always move faster in villages.

I'm going to be as unbiased as I can for Peca.

His only real strength left is on the pk any more, because the man cannot finish with the puck. He is going to either hit the pipe or completely miss.

So yes, 4th liner, pk specialist, almost no offensive game anymore. I would say he is, at best, an average passer, certainly not the best on the CBJ.

Or Darts. Got my first 180 in league play last night (1st year). Looking like the Power.

Interesting comments above on the trade rumour mill Phil: can I ask your background in Junior? I may have missed it.

Trade for Picard would be strange. I mean, this was on waivers 2 times this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's something like one prospect + picks vs. Kovy.

If Gainey is able to get Jokinen, it would be a HUGE upgrade over Kovy.

It's like trading Kovy vs. Jokinen.

i was such a fan of him in lewiston......he and alex bourret were "2 beau ptit tabernak" back then

but we dont really need picard, its not like we need to add more lw (higgins, a.kostitsyn, latendresse, pacioretty)

Isn't he underperforming in Phoenix and aren't Phoenix having financial troubles atm? That's why I heard they want to offload Jokinen, and not to a western rival clearly.

Aaron Portzline from the Columbus Dispatch:

"590 the Fan in Toronto is reporting that the Jackets are interested in Alex Kovalev from Montreal. Any truth to this?

[Aaron Portzline] None. At the bottom of the hour, they'll have Kovalchuk, Spezza and Lecavalier traded, too."

Well even if they want to unload his salary ... they'll ask for much more than draft picks. He's still signed for a couple of seasons. Plus I'm pretty sure Bob wouldn't be the only GM wanting him.

Kovalev for Picard...Is not a good move.

Kovalev for Peca and Picard...That I wouldn't be as upset with. Peca would bring a ton of experience and would be a stabalizing presence on the 4th line. Plus he's a good hitter.
