Well one thing is for sure ... Bob didn't help his value by letting him stay in MTL. Still, I would say that Kovalev should fetch at least the same return MTL gave to ATL.

But it depends if you think that Peca & Picard are worth more or less than a 2nd round pick ....

I know I have this obsession with skilled big centermen, but Jokinen isn't one of them.
When a big skilled centreman is an obvious need, and you’re a team that struggles to attract UFA’s, it is hard being too picky.

Those two guys from Sportsnet aren't the most reliable people in the business.... Mallard and Kypreos.....Please they are barely a step above Eklund

Peca?

Isn't Columbus looking for centremen? I know he isn't scoring any goals anymore, but still.

It's not about how many they are, but the way they act. I just wanted to put a little joke there, but still, there is a weird thing with radio shows in Quebec where they act like..... I won't say it.

This is f***ing ridiculous... kovy is still our top forward pointer ( i know its sad, but still...) U want to trade any players when a slump hits the team, its incredible. Kovy will not be traded, he will stay in montreal, and we will make the playoffs!

Kovalev isn't the problem, he's just a complimentary player being asked to be a franchise player. Doesn't help that we've been hit hard by injuries and he's surrounded by AHL players.

Trade Kovalev for a pick? Who's going to replace him? D'Agostini?

If Gainey is dumb enough to make a trade like that... we all know that a team's real philosophy will be "trap the hell out of every team", "never ever have more than 2 forwards in the offensive zone" and "get lucky"...

That would be on hell of a great 100th year anniversary... going back 15 years...

you have to admit that BG isnt going to send a player home unless the said player isnt giving an effort. you and i see him play on tv, but i think BG knows a little more than you and i about Kovys game.

This would be an incredibly stupid move.

Like it or not, Kovalev is still our most productive forward (I know, not saying much) and by far the most talented player on the team. If we trade him, it better be for a player with comparable output or, failing that (since he has little value), for draft picks or prospects which would then be followed up with another trade for an impact player.

I don't care how bad Kovalev's been this year...he's far from alone and replacing him with more bottom-line guys is only going to make this team worse.

Agreed. But I think we are a much better team with him than without him. Getting rid of Kovy for a pick reminds me of Huet situation last year.

absolutely. but at this point i think we must end ties with him and move on. he will not come back and play for Carbo and BG the same way after being treated like this.

Not true. Real Habs philosophy will be work hard. At least Carbo will have his wish. Closer to 20 Kostopoulos.
