WOW you people astound me. Begin has sacrificed himself year after year for us and has been the heart and soul of our grind line forever. How can you sell Begin down the river. Although I agree that we have the talent to replace him but the guy bleeds for us. He belongs right along Saku for biggest hearts on the team.
Again, I have to agree. We're lucky Carbonneau said that he improved his communication, imagine if he didn't improve...
I don't think he has.
He said he did, but have we seen signs that he truly did??..
Last year when Higgins was placed on 3rd line he said his role had changed and was playing a more checking role. Later after, Carbo said he had no idea Higgins role had changed even if he dropped to 3rd line.
So, that's a sign communication hadn't really improved last year, but we were winning thanks to our PP/Goalies, so we didn't need to look at it as much.
This year, we start the season with a whole new system even if we finished 1st last year.
Gorges was placed on Forward, wasn't told why or what to do. Carbo also canceled the practice, so Gorges didn't even get the chance to practice. This isn't house league peewee hockey where any player can play any position.
Players keep being changed around, one line to the next, without any explanations. Players not knowing their role on the ice and looking completely lost. Begin getting scratched without knowing why, not getting any feed back as to how he could keep his spot.
Like WaffleDave said, if you're able to lose a 4th liner that would eat a puck in the face to prevent a goal, you have a huge problem.
I like Begin for his heart, but his body seem broken after years of sacrifice and punishment, so has his passion on the ice... Stewart, IMO, can do the same job, while being younger, bigger, perhaps a bit slower but not by much, and he does have some better skill with the puck.
The business can be rough, as is life, as you grow older, some youngsters can and will surpass you.
BUT, I have to agree that him complaining means that he cares for the team, and wants to play...
Who cares about what Begin thinks??? What he has done to deserve steady playing time? He isn't scoring points or playing well enough to stand out. He works hard, but thats about it. Lots of players work hard, but some of them make less mistakes.
Well I just hope he didn't need Carbs to realize he's playing like ***** right now. Did he have to get a memo ? Seriously if he thinks he was playing well enough then he deserves to be demoted.
He's a young guy playing for a team in a tailspin and he sees everybody around him being shuffled around the lineup just like himself. No doubt he knew he had to pick up his play, but it's the coach's job to tell a guy that young how he's progressing and what he can improve on lest he get sent to the minors.
more proof that carbo + players = no communication
What is there to communicate? Begin has been around for years, and both he and the Habs know exactly what he brings to the table. Carbo decided he wants go with someone else tonight, plain & simple.
If Begin still isn't able to figure out what's expected of him at this point in his career, he never will. He would be a 4th liner on every team in the league, so he shouldn't be surprised that he's being used like one.
Naturally, in true RDS style, this is a very sympathetically posted article. If Kovalev said any of this, the site (which laughably called him "L'Artiste" yesterday) would be holding a protest outside the Bell Centre... but anyway.
It's from "La Presse Canadienne", a news agency, and the same article is on cyberpresse and other news website.
This is starting to soung like a peewee team, pretty soon the parents of these sucks will be storming the dressing room demanding that their children play more... waaaaaaaaaaaa i want to play waaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaa
I don't understand how grown men can complain about not getting communication from the "boss". Muller is the "players" coach and Carbonneau is the head coach. Carbs does not need to be a counselor or a friend. His job is to communicate to the rest of his coaching staff and it is just as much their resonsibilty to communicate with the players. If anything it is Muller, Jarvis and Melanson who should be filling this role.
If I am not performing at work my direct supervisor is responsible for motivating me and helping me to meet the companies expectations...not my supervisors boss. BTW, I am sick of people on this board who think they know all the details about what happens in the dressing room, who communicates to who, who is partying too much, who is a "true" leader. Give me a break...I could swear I would find more truth reading the covers of the magazines at my local grocery store aisle.
