Quick question..in the 2nd period (late in the period)...a rebound I believe or a pass that went across the crease to an open islander..he shot it and Lundqvist dove across, did Hank save that or did it hit the crossbar?
I really don't think Gomez can play like tonight every night. Simply put, against good defenseman he is shut down 4 times out of 5 because he's too one dimensional. Same with Drury
If Dubinsky, Zherdev, Naslund and Dawes don't get at least something going this team will continue to have massive difficulties scoring. Right now the offense is just too formulaic and predictable. The Islanders passing is noticeably crisper than ours, and it led to some really nice chances for them tonight. Rangers got lucky that Gomez shot went in, because if it didn't everyone would be basically repeating what was said when we played the Blues.
It's kind of funny, but a post and that flukish goal probably saved Renney's job.

hank made a good save and the rebound hit the crossbar

This is exactly what I've been trying to say.
This game has "fluke" written all over it, similar to that game against Washington.
Prove me wrong, Blueshirts!
Was easily the most boring NYI/NYR game I've been to in the last 10 years. Talk about uneventful, it almost seemed like neither side could care about who won.
As for the Islanders.. they played like the terrible 30th place team they are. I was expecting much more from them, to be honest.. but like every other day so far this season.. that's asking too much.
I write for InsideHockey.com on the team, been doing it all season... just to let you guys know, you might be reading a quote from Gomer where he called himself " horse [dung]" over the last little while. If you don't, you'll read it on IH. Very interesting to hear him use those words.
Also, he was getting quite the ribbing on the bench from the guys after his goal. They basically told him they could have gotten a fan out of the stands to shoot it harder, he was laughing about it after the game.
Team played well. The breakout has been such a problem, but they did a much better job passing tape to tape and not losing the puck inexplicably as often this evening.

both. in the replay hank just got a piece of it and it hit the crossbar. it would of gone in if he didn't deflect it. Sam and Joe missed it though on the replay.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but outside from playing a solid game, Lundy also recorded his first assist of the season on the game winning goal by Gomez.
bottom line, they got two points which puts pressure on the 'Canes and PITT.
One thing I really didn't like was Reitz sticking his leg out. That's bush-league. Funny, however, that Prucha ends up fighting the guy who was injured on the play. Glad to see PP protecting Reitz.
They played a simple game and won the game. Seemed to play a bit harder, and the Isles seemed to play well too. If this is what gives them the confidence to start winning again, then great.
Rangers were pretty marginal, lots of errors and inconsistencies. Henrik was solid and get them W. If not for him, the board would continue to stay furious.
There is nothing to buid on the game like this. We need Avery by Sat, or any other help we could get.
let's not get overly excited. they came to play that's for sure, but still we probably wouldn't have won in regulation yet again if not for danis' present

Scoring Mojo. Something that has eluded the Rangers all year. Pucks that just find their way in the net. Its time for the Rangers to get some of that going their way. They just need a little bit of luck

I think you;re right, it definitely got a little peice of his stick, and I think it might have gone straight in otherwise.
