This is the type of attitude which has led to some of the most enjoyable Sens hockey to watch all season. The early season performance has so lowered expectations that I have long since resigned myself to the likely scenario that the Sens will miss the playoffs.

As an optimists, I look to the fact that the Senators will have the opportunity to draft a top prospect, and stabilize the future of the roster.

With the recent winning streak, I was torn. I still feel that the playoffs are out of reach, and occasionally would yell at the TV "What are you guys doing getting leads and playing solid hockey?" Of course all the while enjoying the fact the team was winning and the games were entertaining to watch.

I feel we are in a win-win situation. Either get a decent draft pick or make the playoffs. Even if they maintain the miraculous run and just fall short of the playoffs the draft pick should be decent (Karlsson last year) plus they have the SJ pick. Or maybe they actually do the unthinkable and make the playoffs; that will mean we have watched one of the best month and half's of hockey in history and have team on a roll in the playoffs.

Either way, I'm fine with it.

This is Jason Spezza's chance to emerge as the leader I believe he can become. Just give us ONE game here Jason.

Phllips is my guess. They may just go with the A's instead giving the extra to Fisher or *gasp* Spezza.

It goes beyond Alfies injurys. Murray said he was going to assess this team, based on what happens. With Alfredsson injured, time to put Speatley under the microscope. Time to carry us.
When the big 3 were split they all failed BUT, Heatley carried his line, while the Vermette - Fisher - Alfie line did nothing, and the Spezza Winchester line was a total fail.

Last time they gave the C to Heatley . If they go with the extra "A" , Fisher or Smith IMO

Winchester with anyone in a scoring role has been a total fail.

true, but this is when ppl wanted to trade Spezza and wanted him benched, then Hartsburg went crazy and did his little experiment where he set up Spezza to fail by putting him with players with rock hands

Not a bad pick, Kelly has had success with Heatley before and has been playing real well the last few games. He has gotten lots of chances but can't bury any of them.

This is the Alfie, we're talking about. A broken jaw won't stop him for long. Give him a few days to a week....and he'll stuff a sock in his mouth to cushion his jaw, wear a face-shield, and be back on the ice in no time......carrying the team as he always does!

Now, if it was Ruutu that broke his jaw ....... it would be a different story. Without the ability to yap constantly at his opponenents, Ruutu is completely ineffective.

*wink*

I'm going to have like 12 moments this game watching Kelly miss wide open nets from passes by Spezza. I just know it.

Offensive star in Jr. that is a faceoff specialist with speed. Slowly reinventing himself as a pk dynamo, while still retaining decent offensive ability.

I'd say that's more Vermette than Kelly.

Damn, thanks. I missed most of the game because I was working security for Obama visit this week.

I hope you are right on this one . As much as I love Kelly's defensive play and hard-work , having another Vermette in the makings would be sweet

Oh, the FFS line is the Foligno - Fisher - Shannon line.

I started thinking the FFS line was any line with Kelly missing multiple open nets per game.
