this is really interesting because I think this goalie thing is going to come down to coaching. Nitty is already in the crosshairs because he, along with the team had a sketchy outing lastnight, but even if he did win lastnight was he going to start against the Isles? I believe that Marty has a Nitty streak going against them doesn't he,so you would assume he would start tomorrow, now if he loses tomorrow do you go back to him or do you start to run with Nitty for a while. I think it is almost a coaching dilemma not necessarily a goalie problem. Yes Marty has looked shaky for awhile now but his 10 days off before a start shouldn't have happened Nitty should have started the first Boston game and then the rotationcould have been judged. A backup is rarely put in a situation to win. He is usually put in when a team is down or a specific game, you can't run a hunch right now! Nitty wasn't brought into the second game with the idea to win it was more of a damage control. He wins and then all of a sudden he is the starter? I believe that Marty should start tomorrow because of his record against the Isles and win or lose go with him against the Rangers if HE is awful in the set you make a decision and go with Nitty for a stretch say 5 games or so and see what happens!

I would think they would split that again anyways. If Niittymaki unconditionally gets starts vs. Atlanta, they would do the same for Biron. I can only recall one time each way where they didn't do that.

But is this an opportunity, if Marty wins against the Isles, which I believe he will, I say go with him against the rangers, god if you can get up for 2 in a row with one against the rags then you are F***en dead.

Tim P. mentioned that it looks like Biron could start both games this weekend because....NITTY NOW HAS THE FLU

He didn't practice today.

Originally, Marty Biron was to be in net Saturday against the Islanders and then likely Antero Niittymaki on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. It now appears as though Biron will play both games as Niittymaki missed practice with the flu, which has been hovering over the Flyers for three weeks now. “He started feeling it [Thursday] night and by the time the game ended, he felt progressively worse,” Stevens said. “He had a full-blown flu.” … Keep in mind, Richards and Scottie Upshall had “full-blown” flu cases and missed an entire week. The Flyers will likely call up Scott Munroe if Niittymaki is unable to back-up Biron, who missed a week in December because of the flu.

Flu Shots.

It's not that complicated.

They can't possibly be banned substances, can they?

They also don't guarantee you won't get the flu. There are as many strains of the virus as there are people Wilt Chaimberlain has slept with and the shot can't cover anywhere near all of them.

Did Nitty have it already? I remember Marty had it, but don't remember Nitty. Hopefully he gets over it quicker than Richards and Upshall

I wouldn't ever bother with a flu shot, they're hit and miss.

I'll take the chance and get a shot. Got the flu last year and I'll do just about anything that has the slightest chance of preventing that again... felt like a detoxing Elvis

I guarantee they all get flu shots every year. Sometimes it just doesn't matter.

Maybe we put Ossi at 7th so we could stick some pads on him when Niitty and Biron both failed?

It's something the team has to deal with. Nitty didn't look well in the last game he played. The flu can be horrific. Dropping 5-10 pounds in weight is not funny.

Good read. I like how the only constant in the team regarding goal tending is Lemelin

I've been on Lemelin for quite a while, how many times has a goalie visibly improved under him?

If we are gonna lose, which we will do more with Biron than Niity, I would rather not Biron start and save the frustration of me yelling at him through the TV screen.
What'd he do? Piss on your lawn?
