Chris Osgood will not dress for at least the next two games, as the team wants to give him some time to re-focus

Gainey just revolutionized GM'ing methods to shake their teams up.

Since no one wants to trade, now we'll send struggling players home for 2 games to re-focus.

I don't understand your point. Osgood sucked pretty much the whole season, Babcock played him, he benched him, with no results. They consider him as their starting goalie (or don't trust Conklin) comes playoff time, and hope he can turn his play around, and Redwings can test Jimmy Howard. It's not like Osgood was cancer in the lockerroom or huge distraction. You should have named this thread Osgood vs Price: goalies with zero confidence.

Holland pulled a "Gainey", and sat a vet for 2 games instead of the coach calling it a healthy scratch, not too hard to grasp.

Gainey: We will give Kovalev two games off to refocus.
Reaction: They're going to trade Kovalev! He's never going to play in Montreal again! He's going to be mortally insulted! Oh, the drama! The humanity!

Holland: We will give Osgood two games off to refocus.
Reaction: Oh. Good move.

Wait a minute!, i thought Osgood bought a new camera and Detroit gave him a few days off to try to get it in focus?

Holland/Osgood is taking a page from Gainey/Kovalev who took a page from MacTavish/Penner.

Gainey takes a page from no one. His calender goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd because no one fools Bob Gainey.

They just want to give Howard, who will be on their roster next season, and besides that, it's not unusual that struggling goalies get some time off.

The difference is, Wings sent Osgood home because they can afford that, and Gainey sent Kovalev home, because he couln't afford his selfish unispired play.

And the Habs wanted to play Andrei Kostitsyn on the right side for a change and see if he could run a line of his own, exact same thing imo.
