I don't understand your point. Osgood sucked pretty much the whole season, Babcock played him, he benched him, with no results. They consider him as their starting goalie (or don't trust Conklin) comes playoff time, and hope he can turn his play around, and Redwings can test Jimmy Howard. It's not like Osgood was cancer in the lockerroom or huge distraction. You should have named this thread Osgood vs Price: goalies with zero confidence.

Holland pulled a "Gainey", and sat a vet for 2 games instead of the coach calling it a healthy scratch, not too hard to grasp.

The difference is, Wings sent Osgood home because they can afford that, and Gainey sent Kovalev home, because he couln't afford his selfish unispired play.

And the Habs wanted to play Andrei Kostitsyn on the right side for a change and see if he could run a line of his own, exact same thing imo.
