SJ 1st rounder could very well be 30th overall...a 2nd rounder.

Comrie going back to Ottawa..Campoli was solid for the Islanders..
But getting 2 firsts in 2009 for the Islanders is huge..a building franchise and being able to draft in a deep draft.
Only time will tell who wins this deal..

Yeah, just like the Rivet deal looked stupid at the time.

Sadly, Rivet would be one of our best dmen right now.

Ottawa has to go 18-7-1 to get 90 points. Adding Comrie does not make them good enough to do that - they are not making the playoffs. So basically, they just traded a low 1st rounder in a deep draft for Campoli. Dumb move by Murray.

This would make more sense for the Sens had he made the trade two months ago.

Why 30th? San Jose won the Cup??? It could be a 22th overall pick too...

I don't get this deal AT ALL from Ottawa's point of view...makes no sense whatsoever

They get rid of a UFA to be AND a 1st round pick (more like 2nd round, but still) for Mike Comrie who I believe Murray didn't re-sign and Campoli, a decent puck moving defensman but definately not the answer

Murray's an idiot

Unless Chris Campoli is much better than what he's shown thus far, I don't get why Murray made this trade.

I guess to make a run for the playoffs, and if they can't make it, they'll probably recoup that 1st round pick in an eventual deal for Kuba...but still

And what makes you think that he's all of a sudden better defensively than Hamrlik, Komisarek, and Markov? It's pretty obvious that whatever the problem is, it is affecting all of our defenseman so I don't follow the logic of how a player who was never known for his defensive abilities would all of a sudden be the best on our team. If he was here, he'd be running into the same problems.

It's like the 13th floor on buildings. So the second round starts at 30.

ouch.

I wouldn't like that if I were a Sens fan.

I suppose Murray's thinking is they still have a shot. Or maybe he'll flip Comrie.
