I'm surprised, but this is good news. I prefer to see players wanting to play each other rather the inverse. It would be bad for the whole team concept.

Maybe.. but he's had some other crazy games. His games vs Boston the first playoffs he came here, the 2nd game vs Carolina (6-5 win in double ot) he was crazy in that one too.

But yeah that was his best regular season game here.

well I guess people can't say he doesn't communicate with his players on this one.

How dumb can Carbonneau be ?? Seriously ?? Any clueless fan could tell you that Patches-Plek-Ak46 line has been on fire recently and Carbonneau breaks them up !! I know Kovalev has to play with offensive minded players, but why not simply put him with Koivu and Higgins and Dagger or something ?? I'm completely baffled by Carbo's decisions.

bhuya, I'm sure you've already been asked this considering recent news, but in the middle of your avy, is that Pasquale Mangiola?

Patches played a big role in the success of that line but saying that he was 'the' reason it was working? That's quite an exaggeration IMO. The great thing about that line is that everyone pulled their weight, everyone played to their strengths and made sure they got the best out of each other. The success of it is not down to any single one of them but all three of them equally, I would have thought? Sorry to nit-pick, but that statement kinda stood out...

If the players requested this line, I imagine they want to make it up to Kovalev and feel bad for their horrible performance for most of the season.

I expect them to play like possesed madmen. Or good hockey players, either way.

You're right they had an entire game together and were great!!

Kovy, Pleks and AKost only had one of the top 5 lines in the entire NHL ALL of last season but let's not try them again because we had sooo much success with Pax in a game we lost.

As much as I LOVED the andrei-plek-patches line seeing that Plek and AKost want to play with him makes this a lil better. Before I seen that quote I thought Carbo forced it on them I almost had a heart attack. Hopefully Patches won't be on the fourth line like he was at practice.

Did you guys notice on Habsinsideout, that they show the line as Kovalev-Plekanec-Kostitsyn and not vice versa, if this is true it would make it less painfull

Yet the Kovy, Pleks and Akost trio blew all year. I'd rather try what worked yesterday then what worked months ago but hasn't produced any results since.

Still I'm a bit surprised Pleks and Andrei asked to have Kovalev back as a linemate. I hope they won't change their game because of it. Perhaps Kovy watched the games and realized his linemates are good enough to carry the play themselves? This way he wouldn't make the predictable "slow the game down and try to deke half the opposing team" zone entry all by himself over and over again.

I hope this is right. Not impossible since Carbo had Kovalev on left wing a couple of times just before his two game benching so it shows he's open to this idea.

I thought about putting Kovy on the left side also. I hope it's in Carbo's plan.

As if it wasn't a bad enough news to hear that Kovalev would be back, now our best line since he was sent to his room is being broken up... by him???

Kovy asked the two players what they need from him and how he can help them, so maybe they came up with this idea.

I want us to win a game, but in a decisive manner, not like the win against Colorado, because that would really be a sign that we're out of our slump.
