now i know this is a hockey board but...

i was just wondering if anyone is planning on buying espn NFL 2k5 or madden 2005... espn is only $30 bucks but i trust ea sports more, what are your thoughts...

PS i totally think that there should be a CFL game that would be awesome even if it was only available to be bought in canada...
(one of the reasons i desided to go forward with this post is because someone did a post about the NHL games, it just gave me the i dea to do it with the NFL games too)
later days and rock and roll

I will not be buying either, unless I have nothing else to buy. If there were a CFL game I would buy it though.

.. are these ads new, below the post and above the Quick Reply?

Madden has more features and a better Franchise Mode (from what others have said), but in my opinion, ESPN wins in the gameplay department. It's so realistic. Apparently Madden's gameplay is realistic as well (2004 was a joke... the CPU would have long, long TDs any time it wanted to) but from the videos I saw, 2005 didn't look much different than 2004.

In terms of features...

Madden 2005 > ESPN NFL 2K5

In terms of gameplay...

ESPN NFL 2K5 > Madden 2005

In terms of graphics...

Madden 2005 = ESPN NFL 2K5

Though I do like ESPN's graphics more.

I bought ESPN NFL 2K5 for PS2 about a month ago and I don't see any point in even renting Madden other than to see its Franchise Mode/features.

Hope that helps.

Apparently, it's in the works. I just ran into a link about it a few days ago.

I own ESPN NFL 2K5, It is a very good game and well worth the $30. If I had to buy either game at $60, I wouldn't. Just not that big of an NFL fan. So for me the cost justified the purchase, and the hours I have put into it have justified it even moreso.

Last year I had both and I preferred ESPN, this year I picked up ESPN again and it would have been worth 60 bucks. Great game, even better price.

I have ESPN and I really enjoy it. You cant go wrong for $30. No doubt ESPN ant $30 is better than Madden at $60-$70.
