Choosing Roller Skates.

Just got money for my birthday, and I'm thinking of buying roller blades, but can't tell which is worth it and not. My budget is about $120-150.

Thinking of mostly the Bauers. And is it also ok to use them on the road or not?

Thanks

I've liked all of the Missions that I had (3 pair). I have never personally had any Bauer inline skates but I have heard mixed reviews about them- They are supposedly comfortable but fall apart quickly. If you are going to buy online, shop around at different hockey sites- look for good deals on clearance skates. Just because they are last year's model doesnt mean that there is anything wrong with them.

Yes, you can use them on the road provided the asphalt is quasi-smooth. The only real downside is that you'll chew through your wheels quickly, especially if your skates come with soft wheels from the factory.

I've been using the SR version of these for about 6 months now and they are low-low-low end, and I'm in love with them. There's a few scrapes here and there from sliding and falling, but over all they have held up really well playing 1-3 times a week.

A lot of people complain about the Chassis, the Tuuk OneUPs. I suppose since I don't play in an insanely competitive league it doesn't matter as much to me, but I've never had an issue with them. I am actually considering purchasing the Supreme Selects soon because I've been so impressed with my low-end skates that they higher end versions have to be amazing.

Is that the site you're ordering from or just a reference? Just tryin' to save you some money.

Also I have the NBH XXR lite's...the Oneup is alright for turning and mobility but it's impossible to find a 78mm wheel anywhere so you'll just end up with a HiLo anyway...a little on the heavy side but they're pretty stiff. If you have a wider foot I'd stay away from them and maybe give RBK or CCM a try. I know a certain website has the Vector 6.0's on sale for $150.

Great skates, love them.

However, they are out of the Op's price range.

Rolling Mission BSX's for more than a year now, got them for under $100 and have been pretty comfortable and durable for me. Definitely gonna stick with Mission, maybe upgrade to a higher model.
