Any updates on Lang?

I would think after having surgery a couple of weeks ago that there would be a better estimated time for return. They have had a lot of time to evaluate the situation. Anyone hear anything about a timeline? Will he be ready for the playoffs at any point? Is the injury career ending or can they predict at this point if he can absolutely play again?

Gone for season, maybe career ending. He's 40 years old. It was all over the boards how didn't you hear about this?

Lang turned 38 two months ago. I don't see why his career would be over. It not like he was unable to be comptetive in the NHL lately. I'm sure he can still plays a other year.

Lang is expected to make a full recovery and should be able to be at full strength for whoever picks him up next season.

Good logic, that's the going rate on 20-30 players, he was maybe going to be 30-30 this year too, I could of seen him easily cutting his salary at least in half after that kind of season.

Lang's 38. Haven't you been reading the boards? As for your condescending "facts" show me a link to back up your statement that it maybe career ending. I haven't heard an "official" word about his progress and/or timeline of return, if any.

The rumor is career ending because of his age and the type of injury he got. He will need lots of time to recover and for a guy his age to come back after a lengthy injury, it might be difficult to come back exactly how he was this year. But I don't think Lang is finished, he'll come back next year and maybe even give the Habs a discount, who knows.

They say what helps in his case is that it was cut and not torn.

I understand the rumour thing, but I'm looking for any official announcements made by the team training staff, doctor's, Lang himself, etc. on when and if he'll be back playing hockey at all in the NHL whether it be Montreal or other. I've heard all of these same rumours.

I think it will be a while before we start hearing of his intentions. I would assume that he needs to wait until he's healthy enough to skate again and from there he can determine if he's ok or perhaps its time to retire.

Lang wont be back till next season recovery is minimum 3-4 months and that's if his calf rehabilitates well , I just don't see it happening.
Who knows I guess anything is possible...

According to common sense. Ligaments don't heal fast.

Are you Robert Lang, where was i condescending?

That type of surgery requires 3 months to heal.

The Canadiens lost more than a 3-1 hockey game to the Boston Bruins this afternoon they might have lost their leading goal-scorer, Robert Lang, with a suspected severed Achilles tendon. If that's the case, colour Lang who scored Montreal's lone goal today gone for the season, if not longer.
So 3-4 months sounds right.

Wow, ok. Go up on thread, read all posts saying 3-4 months. Not satisfied. Read up on his type of injury and healing time, factor in his age and level of stress body part of hockey players have to indure, make your own assumption.

Other than that, ask a doctor.

That was immediately after the game. I was looking for something more specific 2-3 weeks post surgery. An immediate reaction could be to say 3-4 months, but that could change depending on how well the surgery went and how well he's healing at present time. A generic "3-4 month recovery" answer is very presumptuous and not backed by anything official yet.

Well the team is going to say indefinetly. But most people (TSN, RDS for one) are saying that is likely he will be out for the rest of the season. It's possible that he could be back for the playoffs. Who knows.

I don't think there is going to be an update until maybe the end of march I'd asume. Since his surgery was only in the start of the month. Only assuming here.. but to me that makes sense.
