Against McCabe in March. Joe won the fight.

Iginla vs. Thornton on skills alone is fairly even. Throw intangibles into the mix and Iggy seperates himself from Thornton IMO.
I agree with the intangible logic, Iggy makes players around him much better, anyone ever see Conroy or even McAmmond as top line players before playing with Iggy. Kipper hands down the biggest reason we went deep into the playoffs, but the Flames captain led by example, THREE fights in four playoff series… when was the last time the top player on any team did that in the playoffs…1970 what…

Thorton will always get more assists than Iggy, the guys a centre he should get more assists. Iggy is arguably the best all around player in the league…especially if you consider his ability and willingness to fight…

Iggy 8million one year with same bonus structure he has now… include 500k for Rocket Richard…etc.

iginla is the one who makes his teammates better but joe is the one with all the assists..kind of odd huh?
btw i dont think Thorntons teammates have been that great
Glen Murrays goal totals exploded when he went to boston
Mike Knuble didnt do jack until he was 30
martin lapointe was signed one of the most ridiculous contracts in history considering his hockey ability
Thorntons teammates are every bit as lacking as iginla if not moreso...at least iginla has good defensemen to play with. this notion that Joe benefits from good teammates is completely ridiculous.

:lol

Iginla 6'1 207lbs

03/04 fights:

Cory Cross 6'5 220lbs (Cory crumbles like a creampuff after 2 of Iggys right hands)

Cody McCormick 6'2 215lbs (mostly a wrestle..few good shots by Cody)

Jordin Tootoo 5'9 193lbs (the little puke turdled and then suckerpuncned Iggy while the ref was holding him...the next game Jordin ran)

Steve Ott 6'1 185lbs (Ott was hanging on for dear life after eating a left hook)

Mattias Ohlund 6'2 220lbs (my sister would have put up a better fight then Ohlund..)

Derian Hatcher 6'5 235lbs (close fight..call me a homer but Iggy got the better shots in)

Vincent Lecavalier 6'4 210lbs (good scrap with Iggy the clear cut winner)

You were saying!!

Fact is, Iggy is not a heavyweight fighter and no Flames fan ever said he was,he fights when he feels theres a need not because wants to be a tough guy!! but when the need is there he certainly can throw em.

thornton generally fights for the exact same reasons and is just as effective.
most of those guys are crap fighters despite good size for a few of them
in the hatcher fight dude left his visor on even tho he clearly should have removed it...***** move there.
