Other than that, ask a doctor.
Again, if I were going to make assumptions I wouldn't have posted this thread. I'm looking for any links or sources to updates on his status (reports released after further evaluation 2-3 weeks post surgery and if they have changed his status and timeline for return if any). Reading up on typical healing time for particular injuries doesn't tell me much unless it's specific to the individual. Lang, in this case may be unique and require less than typical healing time depending on how well he heals, treatments, rehab, etc. On the contrary, they may even determine he won't be able to resume play til next season. We can all make assumptions. Just looking for official word. Not really looking for "Ask a doctor".

Official word from me: 3-4 months. Minimum.

Umm... okay, instead of 3-4 months, it's now 2 months and 2 weeks to 3 months and 2 weeks.

Lang had a severed achilles tendon. The positive report was that it was severed and not ruptered, I think that's what you got confused.

I know I heard on tv they said that it wasn't as bad as first thought and that he should make a full recovery as it was thought it might be career ending but that it doesn't look like it now.

Nothing else official, so the playoffs would seem unlikely at this time as a guess.

Pour Robert Lang, son retour avant le début des séries reste possible « si toutes les conditions sont parfaites ». Le vétéran réagit très bien à l'opération subie il y a trois semaines pour réparer une déchirure au tendon d'Achille.

So if conditions are perfect he could be back for the beginning of the playoffs?

this would be a miracle IMO si I won't put too much hope on this.

Btw, it would be epic if he comes back for the playoffs since salaries don't count on cap hit during the playoffs...

Your link was broken, so just so people don't think it's invalid:

This could be amazing news. The first we've heard about Lang maybe coming back!

Thanks for fixing it......

I guess that makes you "the missing link."

....and great news indeed about Lang.

I hope they don't rush just for him to end up getting hurt worst. That being said it would be nice to have him back if it is like the pre-injury Lang.

Guys don't forget, this is only if he can get through rehabilitation super quickly, it's a painfully long process to heal and get back in shape for this type of injury...

So if they add a player of Lang's salary at the deadline (which gives them the room because he is on LTIR), what happens come playoff time? Can both play regardless of the fact they are over the cap?

Season is over = no more cap = players play for free.

It says in the quote that everything would have to go perfect for him to comeback but the possibility is still there. Would be awesome to get him back.

I'm hoping that, like Souray's bionic wrist and his slapshot, Lang will come back with Petrov-like speed. Hey, you never know.
