Isles late first and early second picks

If the Islanders offered the Sharks first round pick (#28-29) and their own second rounder (#31), who would be willing to trade their first round pick?

Boston and Detroit fans need not answer.

You might get as high as #18. Probably no better than that though, and that would be a long-shot.

If the Rangers picked around 17/18, I'd move that pick for that offer, likely, depending on who was still available.

If you added a good prospect or another first(of course not this years), maybe you get a Top 10 ot Top 15

Thanks, pick 17 or 18 does seem reasonable. I was hoping to get to 15 however.

I said in an Islanders thread and I will say here. San Jose's 1st + Toronto's 2nd could probably bring us up about 7-10 spots.

I wouldn't want to trade our 2nd, but I would trade Toronto's (which is most likely 34th) and our late 1st for the 23rd and take a D if we take JT 1st overall.

#17 + #28 was good enough to move up to #12 last year.
#23 + #54 was good enough to move up to #21.
#35 + #39 was good enough to move up to #28.

So I'd imagine they could move up roughly 10 spots?

They ain't done trading yet. I expect more picks in the draft still (maybe conditionally, like moving up in the draft(they can actually do it twice) or their #1 for an Isle's pending UFA)
and
packaging both Guerin and Weight for a #1 and prospect...

I would love to see the Islanders figure out a way to get back in the top 10. I really like Magnus Svensson-Paajarvi's game and I think we should do whatever we can to pile as many picks up and attempt to move up and grab him. This guy is gonna be a future star and you put him and Tavares or Hedman together with Okposo, we got a team again.

That's what I'm talking about! I think Minnesota or Columbus might be a good landing spot for a move like that. Maybe even Edmonton.

Chicago could swap 1st and 2nd round picks with the Islanders. Chicago will likely pick 23-25.

A team maybe wary of taking a rental for the playoff push because it takes time to acclimate to a new team, but taking both may off shoot it because they can be used on the same line...

No team is going to make a trade like that with the Isles now.

At the draft, perhaps, as they see who is on the board as their pick approaches.

How about the SJ pick, our own second rounder, and the Leafs' second rounder? How how would a package like that get us on draft day? All three should be from 26-36 overall position.

That could get us 13-19 IMO

I am guessing all 3 picks gets the Islanders a 10-15th spot assuming there is a team not 100% sold on who is left and were SJ picks. If SJ wins makes the finals I can see it no higher then 12th

As a nucks fan I'd go as high at the 14th for those two picks...essentially if we miss the playoffs in 9th, I would swap our first for NYI's 2nd and SJ 1st. We have a thin prospect pool and getting two quality picks would be worth it IMO.

from what i can tell, the isles have:

NYI 1st rd (1-2)
SJ 1st rd (26-30)
NYI 2nd rd (31-32)
TML 2nd rd (33-35)
BOS 2nd rd (nokalainen played enough games) (57-61)
NYI 3rd rd (62-63)

if i were the islanders, i would try to package the SJ 1st and the NYI 3rd for a pick ~18 and then try to package 2 of the 2nd rounders for another first. That would leave the isles with three first rounders @ #1-2, ~18, and ~22. If i were the isles, i would also consider trading a 2010 2nd rounder for a 2009 2nd or in a package for a 2009 1st, as a good draft this year could make the isles contenders in 3-4 years.

We would be lucky to get the 18th pick using SJ's 1st and our 2nd, don't think a 3rd rounder has that much value.

I think Minnesota could be interested in a trad down on draft day. If they finish the season just outside of a playoff spot, say around the 13th pick.
Im pretty sure they are without a pick in the second and third round, and they are seriously lacking talented prospect. So here goes....

To Wild:
SJ '09 1rd pick + Isles '09 2rd and 3rd pick + Isles '10 2rd pick.
(pick no.28,31,61 in 2009 + an early 2rd pick in 2010).

To Isles:
MIN '09 1rd pick.
(pick no.13)
