Guess you were right about Comrie

I was always against making your own proposals......someone is always against it but I thought I would get into to the spirit of it.

Been talk from one of the more reliable reporters in St. Paul that Backstrom may be going to the Caps for some picks, prospects, and 3rd players. Ugh

Ohhhh, thank you very much.

Even I didn't think he'd be headed back to Ottawa of all places. Maybe he can get himself going a little better with the Sens.

The Canucks like Lupul (as do the Ducks) but the Canucks main target may Vermette who could be heading to Vancouver for a D-man. (eklund)

yes i know its late and everyone is probably sleeping. but im on the other side of the world (asia to be excat). but is everyone "excited that the trade deadline inching closer? and also do you think there will be

a) alot of movements like 16-26 trades? just an estimate)
b)little movement and just about as little as 5-10 trades. for what 5.am till 3pm eastern... 10hrs of tv coverage and realizing it's a waste of time...?

This is off topic but I don't want to start a new thread for it...does anyone know if TSN will be streaming their trade deadline show?? I'm in Sweden and really want to watch it.

Yeah, I'd say that's solid, since we're never going to see Cole again. I mean, if you were Cole, would you go back to a team that you have no chemistry with? I know I would look for a better offer, so the Oil should get what they can, when the can, and an extra 1st would be sweet. Might be able to move up in the draft with 2 first rounders...

If Carolina slips in the standings over the next 2 weeks...

To Chicago: Rod Brind'amour
To Carolina: Dustin Byfuglien and 3rd round pick

Money is even ($3M per year until 2011), though Brind'amour's cap hit is a little more ($3.6M).

Detroit acquires a useless Cory Cross/Jiri Slegr-esque player that has little impact on the team in the regular season, and then goes away completely in the playoffs (ala doesn't play at all).

To Florida: Tomas Kaberle

To Toronto: Nathan Horton

I could see Burke being strongly interested in Nathan Horton. He's a big Canadian kid who has some great potential and fits the mold of a team Burke is looking to build. However, this trade will only transpire if the Panther deal Bouwmeester by the deadline.

Just why would Florida trade their #1 center right now? Martin has stated over, and over again that this franchise is being built around players like Horton, and Weiss,Booth,Ballard so why would they trade him away considering there are much Defensive UFA this offseason? Not to mention we do have Allen who will be back,Welch is waiting,Ellerby and even Garrison waiting in the minors.

IF Florida makes any trades by the deadline, not talking bout Bouwmeester, they will be trading for more scoring depth, not sure if it will be center because Horton is doing well there,or wing but definately not D.

cats arent trading horton. That is foolish of them to move a young player that wants to be here signed long term dirt cheap for his ability and playing wonderful.

Trade Confirmed

To Pittsburgh: LW Chris Kunitz & W/C Eric Tangradi

To Anaheim: D Ryan Whitney

The first page has been updated.

We had some close calls on this one. Killa Cam Janssen, The Hockey Hitman and zetterberg40 predicted that Whitney would be traded but zetterberg40 was the closest mentioning that they wouldn't fetch a high-end scorer in return. zetterberg40 with the edge!

Here are my predictions:

Boston: gets a top 4 D-man. and a forward(3rd liner) Keeps Manny
NJ: gets another D man
Toronto Keeps Kaberle, but looses Nik
Ottawa: Big 3 Stays intact
Ducks: keep Pronger, and loose Scott (either to NJ or to retirement)
Jackets: add some firepower up front
Colorado: sellers: drop d-man and forward.
Panthers: Later Jay.. Florida trades Jay now while they can get something in return.
Edmonton: Trades Cole
Sharks: trade Neil.
Detroit: nothing big.. not really sure.. but they will do something
Chicago: chills

Trade Confirmed

To Montreal: D Doug Janik

To Dallas: F Steve Begin

The update can be found on the first page with the names of those who were correct or partially correct on their predictions in regards to previous trades made.

The only thing that was certain about this deal is that Steve Begin would be gone if there was any interest in him. Nobody really cared so that might explain why no one even bothered to make a prediction on either of the players involved.
