even tho same result as last time with renney, i prefer this over that.
goal scoring will come if we play like this.
these guys will be spent tonite, they all earned their checks tonite.
it would be easy to say nothings different but that would be blatantly untrue. they played with purpose tonite. to me, huge difference there alone. this is a point we earned tonite. we were the better team for most of the game but let up in the 3rd.
They worked harder, however they just don't have enough skill. This team is riddled with mediocrity at best.
Honestly, package Dubinsky, Gomez for Kovalchuk. Dubinsky isn't going to be a top player in my opinion. He's a career third liner...
We need a star scorer for this system, and we don't have anything close to a star.
I think this is a good thing...........a coaching change will fix jack.............just go nuts at the deadline...............I want Gomez, Rozsival, Dawes, Prucha, Voros , Kalinin moved for whatever...............just get new blood in .........they are not going anywhere with this group
Well, I'm pleased with the effort tonight. Bottom line is that we lost in a skills competition. That's all it is. It's a bad way to decide a game.
The offense is still struggling, that wasn't going to change in one day. I did think they got some rebounds and some better chances, but there were also times where they could have cashed in (Dubinsky's wrap-around was strung out too long).
I thought everybody for the most part contributed positively, they played their ass off and I can't believe that was Wade Redden out there. He looked like he did for the first 3 games of the season.
Tomorrow is another big game. I'm not happy that we didn't get that 2nd point, but I am satisfied with the heart and effort that this team showed tonight.
Playing a defensive defense roll? Oh hell yea he will be, you'd be crazy to think Staal won't be a elite shutdown dman in 2-3 years in his prime. He's already by far the best defensive dman on the team.
The team looked much better overall today and still created more chances than they have in the last 3 games despite half of them being nervous as heck. I'll take it for now
I know right. Jeez. It was Torts first friggin game. Renney has been here for over 3 and a half years. The other thing. IDC if I'm making excuses because this is legitimate. Callahan was pushed into Toskala and he gets 2 minutes? The Rangers should have had the PP and we could have picked up the two points. Not only that, but when your busy killing off a penalty (which has no business being called against Callahan) that's two minutes taken away in which your own team has to concentrate on the pk instead of trying to score.
Positive signs- PP looked much improved and Redden scored a friggin goal.
Negative- Mara > Kalinen and could be the Rangers best defense man right now. We need him back.
The other negative is the continued scoring drought.
Some of you guys are too demanding. What do you except? Be patient don't wait for this team to turn into something different in a snap. The players won't regain confidence in 2 days, give them and the new coach a couple of games at least to isolate the issues and try to work on a solution. The first two periods were very interesting, an aggressive forecheck with some good opportunities. The third period was a bit more difficult. Tortorella gathered some informations and will work with the guys in the next days. But please don't give up after the first game, that's just ridiculous.
