The flyers are good at getting quality chances without a lot of shots.

The Flyers beat the Kings at the Kings game. Not that the Kings are a model of consistency, but they've been able to find ways to come up with points, especially late in games recently. They gave up the least amount of shots per game in the league last time I looked a couple days ago, so only having 20 shots should not be a shock. It was a strong game by both goalies, Ersberg too, they've been looking for a game like this from Ersberg, but they just couldn't get a goal. Jeff Carter scores a dirty goal, the rest of the team should take note and stop trying pretty plays.

Exactly what I was thinking tonight as well. Less passing, and more shooting.

I think Marty getting this 25th shutout will help his confidence in the long run. Especially, right now down the stretch.

These are the types of games you have to win in the playoffs. The Kings are also a little bit in over their head right now, though.

depends. they should be careful how they spend money, because they have a lot of guys they'll want to sign long-term on big deals down the road.

personally, i wouldn't sign a "big" contract defenseman if I were them...you're going to want to be flexible to give those deals to Doughty and Johnson in the years ahead. In both cases, they should look for still serviceable vets that would be willing to sign 2-3 year deals.

100% agree with you on that.

I really like some of their players. Frolov, and Kopitar to name just 2.

LA's future is pretty good. Doughty is as good as advertised and Johnson is no slouch either.
I thought the Flyers did a good job at keeping the Kings out of the dangerous areas for the most part and kept them on the permiter. I really dont think Biron was screened much on many of those shots tonite, and he had to make probably 4 or 5 "tough saves"
Maybe tonite is a differant game if they had Brown in there to go to the net and get those ugly goals on the PP.
Hopefully we can get Timonen back on Friday night.

I agree. No Homer deals. But Boumeester would be nice fit. Johnson is on the block. Maybe Hossa or a trade for kovalchuk.

He had several chances last night and didn't bury any of them. That's gotta change.

I also want to see responsible defensemen. God was Alberts awful yesterday.

Maybe I need to call everyone out next time.

Tsn Pierre McGuirre has mentioned many times that johnson is avaluable. I think the kings will try and make a big splash in the summer. Hossa or kovalchuk..

why would they deal Johnson? they can make a splash without moving Johnson.
I would be SHOCKED if they traded him.
They are at 44 million and will have Calder(2.7), Armstrong(1.6),Gauthier(2.2), O'Donnell(1.25) coming off the books. Granted those guys will pay for Kopitar's raise but yeah they will be in good shape.
Hossa will be a UFA this offseason, so LA can sign him without dealing a guy like Johnson. I could see Frolov getting dealt from the Kings though.
I could see the Thrashers dealing Kovalchuk this offseason since hes a UFA after 09/10.

The Kings are not moving JMFJ. He's been their best defenseman since returning from injury.

They have the players, and options, to be an elite team in 4 years, they just need to put it together.

eugh, that year when carolina dumped jmfj, i was really upset the flyers didnt get him. i was a huge fan of him when he was at michigan, and if that was the kind of package that could get him, i'm surprised the flyers didn't tender an offer.

Dunno if anyone asked this (and I'm not reading through 24 pages to find out....search came up empty).

Near the end of the game when the Kings pulled their goalie, they showed him on the bench with his mask pulled up on top of his head. Looked at him and thought damn he looks a little bit like Pelle. Wasn't familiar with him but found out he's a Swede so maybe it's just Swedish facial features. Still, thought it was kinda weird.

Anyone else have the same thought? Maybe it's just me...
