I'd exchange Berfors for Palmieri and make that deal. I'm kind of partial to Italians and so is Lou.

And it would allow us to include Gionta in a deal for a defensemen. Yea, I know he's Italian too, but he's also UFA.

Can someone explain to me why people think Clemmensen is good? When the hell is the last time a career minor leaguer suddenly became a good goaltender at 31 years old? How the hell do a few good months totally negate 8 years of absolute suckiness?
I wouldn't go so far as to say he sucks. He's certainly capable, I mean he's won NCAA and AHL championships. He's your average goalie pro level goalie, no more no less.

The Sabres aren't looking for a starting goalie, just someone who can hold the fort down until Miller gets healthy. Clemmensen has already proven he can do that. Miller is still their man just like Marty is still the Devils man, they just need someone better than Lalime.

We have no need of Paille and I like Palmieri. Clemmensen has no real value to speak of except as insurance in the event Brodeur's health isn't what it should be - which is to say, he has more value to us than he would probably garner in a trade, barring the return of a puck-moving defenseman.

Clemmer just might have value to Buffalo, in their current situation. However, I agree with you about Palmieri. I like big strong prospects that can skate and have shown a scoring touch.

not really CAREER AHLers, but they played their fair share of AHL games and it took them til their 30s to establish themselves in the NHL.

not saying Clem is in their league.... just saying. It's not easy to get your shot when you are in NJ system behind Brodeur
Roloson at least was at least capable in the NHL before his breakout, with decent play for the Flames and Sabres. He also was putting up great numbers in the AHL.

Tim Thomas clearly was a late bloomer as well, but like Roloson, was showing success prior to his breakout. He had some very good years in the FNL and the AHL. Clemmensen has been garbage in the NHL prior to this season, and for half of his time in the AHL has been garbage as well. This year he has a .895 SV% with Lowell. And even when Roloson and Thomas had their success you could see how their play reflected their stats. Clemmensen looks like a mess half the time he's out there.

ya but when clemmensen played in the NHL he played with a system that was a little lazy, knowing that their goalie could bail them out. i cant speak for the AHL though

The point in hockey is to have one goal more then the other team... Clemmensen's stats reflect just that. He has 25 wins, 13 loses and 1 OT loss with a .917save % and a 2.39 GAA... aren't those stats any good ?!?!?

Who cares what he's done in the past, it's what he can do for you NOW !!! I'm not saying that he's worth a 1st and Pominville but to call him a "mess" is just retarded. I'm assuming you think Henrik Lundqvist is a top 5 goaltender in this league this season.... right ?!?!? Then if Lundqvist is even a top 10 goaler, how come Clemmensen has almost the same stats as the "Queen" and maybe even better for that matter ?!?!?

The guy is playing good hockey THIS SEASON and that's all that matters...

He's healthy. That by default makes him better than Lalime, who now has flu-like symptoms, meaning we're probably going to see Enroth tomorrow.
