Hockey needs a stat for goalies like baseball does for pitchers...quality starts.

I know this is not a real stat but I was curious to see how well they played on a regular basis.

Average starts
Starts giving up 3 or less goals:
Biron: 24/35...68.5%
Nitty: 16/23...69.5%

Good Starts
Starts giving up 2 goa;s or less
Biron: 12/35...34%
Nitty: 11/23...47.8

So basically they have about the same amount of quality starts where they give theyre team a chance to win by alowwing 3 or less goals. But Nitty steals games and les up 2 or less goals a game almost 50% of his starts, if you let up 2 or less goals your team SHOULD win.

I dont know exactly what that tells but it is interesting.

You should do something like this along the lines of SVPCT seeing as GAA is a team stat.

Ditch biron, keep nitty sign/trade for somebody else and worse case scenario, have nitty for a backup in the event we actually have seen the best of him. Hopefully we can trade for a roloson type player like edmonton did for their run
Screw "playoff run," Nitty hasn't had a "good" NHL season, unless you want to count his 12-9-2, .907 season last year.

I wanted to see how they compared to competition and heres what I found. These are based upon playoff teams vs non playoff teams and are based on if the playoffs started today who would be in and wouldnt.

Biron
Games started: 36
against playoff teams: 16
record against playoff teams: 9-4-3
Games against non playoff teams: 20
Record against non playoff teams: 10-7-2

Nitty
Games started: 23
against playoff teams: 8
record against playoff teams: 4-2-2
Games against non playoff teams: 15
Record against non playoff teams: 10-3-2

What this shows is that Biron actually Steps his game up against better teams. Hes just as good if not better against playoff teams than he is against lower quality teams. Maybe he just need to be pushed and he picks his game up against better competition. In goatending its all about concentration.

The flyers are 13-6-5 against playoff teams and 20-10-4 against non playoff teams. We need to tke a couple of them OT losses and make them wins because something like 15-6-3 would make much much more happy.

Either way its good to get points in 18 out of 24 games against high quality competition.

Niitty also beat Brodeur the first time they played each other.

Yann Danis got a 40 save shutout the other day. One game means nothing
