Have you ever played hockey at a semi-high level?
If you have, then I can't understand why you're arguing this.
Of course being on a team requires a military-like camaraderie, that's what makes it a team.
The logo should always be above the individual.
Teams with selfish players never win.

there was something about torts behind the rangers bench tonight, he just seemed like he belonged there. Like he had been coaching this team for a long time.

Selfish players are called leaders when they are successful. Messier was selfish, otherwise he would never go to VAN. He was able to sell his selfishness as a leadership.
Military doesn't require talent. Nor does what you called "semi-high" level in sport. NHL is different then high school.
My point was we've got the team under Renney, we still lack an individuals who could perform. Stressing the teamwork at this time rings the wrong bell.

Renney is a good coach and got the most possible out of this very mediocre collection of players, until the players themselves realized they weren't good enough and decided to quit on him.

The idea of Torts cussing them out & perhaps burying them in his doghouse will scare most of the players into playing harder for a while. But ultimately reality will set in once again, and they will realize that this team is simply not good enough to compete for the Cup.

We fans have to stop blaming the coaches and focus on who is really responsible for this mess. Thank You Glen Sather.
