Kraft has finally shown why he was a first round pick, and is playing well with confidence. The pens don't need another prospect, although is Chistov a RW? This would be bad for anaheim becuase they are giving up too early on a legit prospect.

I figure the guy who thought Lachance and a 3rd for a former 5th overall pick was fair, or the one who suggested a second rounder was. I guess that argument that he was picked 5th overall wouldn't work in all cases, like if it was 10 years ago, but considering it was 3 years ago, and he's only had one off season(and one good one), I rest my case.

O=S' proposal is by far the best proposal for Chistov in this thread. Well, the Lundmark and a 2nd one was good too, but other than those two, the others stunk up the joint.

honest opinion man...Chistov could be a small step below Kovalchuk if he wants to be...It's all up to him...and Lundmark's upside is?

Chistov's stock IS at an all-time low, which is why it makes zero sense to even think of dealing him right now. It's way too early to give up on the kid.

Chistov is still 21, people think this guys career is over because he had the sophmore jink.

But what the hell how about Chistov for Bobby Holik?

That's like me saying Frolov could be a small step below Fedorov if he wants to be. Not saying Chistov is a bad player, but I think you're sorely overrating Chistov.

Either way... for the sake of discussing sheer value, how does Mike Cammalleri + 3rd sound, value wise?

No, those are totally different cases. Chistov really could be a step behind Kovalchuk if he wanted to be. He's right up there in talent, and while alot of people will debate that, it is probably true. If Chistov had good work ethic, he probably would be right up there near Kovalchuk, but unfortunately, he has terrible work ethic, and that's a huge part of everything.

[QUOTE]

well I compared him to Kovalchuk because they are from the same draft year Chistov being 5th and Kovalchuk 1st. If you go back and look at the draft info. there are a lot of comments about Chistov being as talented as Kovalchuk but size being the deciding factor. Redline at one point ranked Chistov ahead of Kovalchuk.

Now Kovalchuk has already become perhaps the most explosive offensive player in the world where as Chistov had a sometimes dazzling rookie season(numbers don't necessarily show it) followed by a sophomore slump. But if you watch the kid play you'll see he has the unique worldclass talent that is a perhaps only a step below Kovalchuk, now we will see how bad he wants to be a star in this league.

You might as well just offer a 2nd rounder for Chistov, because adding Beech doesn't really add anything to the deal.

The Devils are trying to cut salary, so take your pick of either Jan Hrdina or Viktor Kozlov. My proposal:

Anahiem gets:
C Viktor Kozlov
LW Tuomas Pihlman

New Jersey gets:
Stanislav Chistov
4th round

He seems like one of the higher prospects in the league...

Maybe Brashear and Somik for Chistov and a draft pick.

Kovalchuk's always had a GREAT shot. Chistov still has to learn to get even a moderate one before he starts having any comparable (even a step below) impact.

the 3 lundmarks for chistov was the reply i thought was funny, not the whole post sorry, kovalchuk and chistov are different players, kovalchuk is much bigger and much stronger, chistov has a world of talent, but will never acheive kovalchuks abilty. i look at it like this, Kovalchuk is similar to bure, circa early-mid 90's and chistov is similar to a late 90's karyia

decent proposal. It would be a nice return in a situation where Chistov was requesting a trade. Since the Ducks don't really have a reason to trade Chistov I wouldn't make this deal though.

I was about to write this.

Hockey is like stock exchanges..... you keep your low value players (when you think they will increase their value), and you trade the overated ones. At that point, Chistov is one of the player, with Samsonov, that I rank in the top 10 of players having a low value that will change over the next season.
